Puzzled that there is so little out there on this topic. I know there are bits and pieces on different threads but maybe it could all be pooled here. Has a committee been formed? If, so are they meeting? Are any of our former greats being considered? Anybody heard anything on when a decision might be announced? Anybody know anything they can share? Bueller? Bueller?
Some info on the thread "Karen Barefoot is Gone, Finally"
Yes, there is a committee, and they are in the process of interviewing.
LadySwish is all over it.

LadySwish also mentioned McPhee-McCuin's contract being through 2020. That might be a hurdle we're not willing to take with the current AD budget.
I'm a little worried to tell you the truth. I'm usually a positive person, but is not the best situation, for us or the new hire.
well likely get another Karen, karen 2.0 for the money we are offering. However, this one wont be as good as a recruiter. so theres good reason to be worried. are there any former players that are successful coaches anywhere? like Celeste Hill or Mery Andrade, atleast theyd be a familiar face

Why are people so obsessed with having a former player be part of this. When BT was canned, I don't recall anyone clamoring for Odell or Ricardo Marsh or any other former player to get the nod. Being a good player does not make you a good coach and vice versa.

Lets simply find the best coach regardless if he or she even ever played the game.

Let's not confuse lack of coaching acumen, with spending less on a coach looking to move up. We should give the new coach a chance. Again football is the cost elephant in the room.

We gave KB a chance, but it was obvious she has no coaching instincts once the game started and was very bad at X's/O's. What was really sad is that she seemed to get worse as the years went on, not better. That seems to indicate a reluctance to learn or inability too.
Some people did want Dave Twardzik though.

I know a lot of people think that football hurt men's basketball but I'm not 100% sure about that. I'm guessing they don't want to spend big money on a women's basketball coach because they know more raises are going to come for football coaches and they may need a higher salary for men's basketball.
Thanks to all of you for all of the above info. I checked out the "Karen Barefoot is Gone" thread and did find the info there. To be honest I was ignoring that thread lately because I figured it was just more of the same old, same old. In any case I would agree that based on what I just read there is not a lot of room for optimism. Hope I am wrong on that thought and thanks again for sharing the info. 04-cheers
Personally, now that we have this thread, I would like to see the "Karen Barefoot is Gone, Finally" thread closed out. To me, it feels like she will never be gone as long as new posts are hitting that thread. Let her go, guys.
its hard, were bitter! lol I agree, hopefully we will get positive news about a coach. does anybody know if we are retaining the Camp twins that would enroll next year? They could help significantly up front as they are highly rated 6'5 Center and 6'3 Forward.

They're signed and I havent seen any news in regards to them asking for a release.
thats good news
Still have 2 other recruits who we haven't heard anything about recently.....Signee 6-3 Dejah Carter from Cosby H.S. and 2018 verbal commit 5-8 3* guard Victoria Oglesby from Suwanee, GA.
Oglesby originally decomitted from Dayton after a coaching change, so its probable that she will open up her recruitment again.

There is no question in my mind that the start of football has had a significantly negative impact on ODU's Men's Basketball program. In my opinion, ODU would be playing in the Atlantic 10 the past few seasons if not for football.
Agreed, know for a fact that they would love to have had us.
