The kid should be expelled.

It's already gotten to that point. The squeaky wheel gets the grease until it becomes so obnoxious of an annoyance that the wheel is discarded and replaced with a different one altogether.

You are almost certainly right about that.

These folks should be thrown in jail, or a mental institution.

The reason why is because they are damaging REAL victims in situations where there is real harassment or vandalism.

These false claims make it harder for victims to report and for police to act on them.

Must start really punishing these.

Agreed.

My default on these things any more is "Yea, right. Give this a few weeks, then we'll see".

If and when there is an actual instance of this kind of thing, it's less likely to be taken seriously.

The idea that suddenly so many colleges and universities are filled with white racists who are writing all sorts of notes against blacks is ludicrous.

Doubly true at a small exclusive liberal arts colleges like St. Olaf.

Their solution will likely be a mandatory seminar for all students on diversity and white privilege since this is obviously a symptom of a campus that does not create a feeling of acceptance and welcome for non-white students. Then they'll increase the numbers of non-white students admitted, so the non-whites can feel like they belong.

I immediately discount them when I hear them...and that makes me sick.

It's gotten to the point that I don't even SEE these types of stories anymore. They have become so pervasive and have been routinely discredited that my mind automatically filters them out. They have become "National Enquirer" type stories that I subconsciously gloss over without a 2nd thought.

And, of course, the cucked administration is still talking about how "there is a climate that needs to be addressed"

I'm out and about a fair amount. I've coached or worked with kids in one capacity or another for parts of 3 decades. I can't think of a single instance. In college, we had friends and neighbors, roommates and team mates of all stripes and colors.

I get that there's a strain out there that are running around in goofy places like Berkeley or wherever, but in the "real world"?!? On a college campus nonetheless?

My kid's in school now and we get a pic of his Fraternity stuff from time to time. They look more like a meeting of the UN than the local klan chapter, and they're all good buddies, look out for each other.

The reason it's come to this is because frankly, society has lost all perspective when it comes to things like racial epithets. More of a stink was made out of a poop swastika (which was never proven to not be a hoax) and some black son of a millionaire allegedly being called the N-word at Mizzou than is made over some school shootings.

Acting like these incidents are such a huge deal just encourages people (hoaxers or otherwise) to carry out these "crimes".

I'm okay with fighting bullying and what not but someone getting racial epithet yelled at them is just not that bleeping bad when you step back and remove all emotion and look at it logically.

This is just the media playing one side against each other, like a pair of fiddles. First they rile up one side, by reporting racism and threats against minorities. Then they rile up the other side, by reporting that it was "fake". All while laughing to the bank, as the clicks pour in.

A guy walks into a bank and points a shotgun at the teller, demanding "give me all the money or I'll spray the walls with your insides!"

Then when the money is handed over he suddenly backs away, saying "just kidding! This was all fake! This gun is fake! It can't actually fire, because it's a fake gun! I'm a fake robber! This was a fake robbery! OK, bye!"
