I saw that y'all added a home and home season for 18 & 19 with NMSU. I've never seen anyone do that before thoughts? That's a total of 4 games 2 in 18 and 2 in 19.

I vaguely remember some team in the past playing a team in their conference as a OOC game. Then later on in the same season as a conference game. Not sure if I am remembering it wrong but it feels true...LOL. That aside the 2018 is for sure a hurry up job since most teams have their schedules set already. I'm guessing 2019 is sort of the same but not as bad. The further out we schedule the better it will be. It's just these first couple of years that will be a little messy. But I expected this.

I just have never seen teams play twice in the same season unless it was a championship or bowl game. It should be a winnable game both times. Could help get to bowl eligibility in 19.
I haven't seen any announcement but I can't blame either school for doing this. It adds two winnable games, a potential rivalry, and fills the schedule quickly.

I remember this happening before (in-season, not including bowls) but it has been a long time. I want to say it was two WAC schools that did it last but I'm not sure.
This is a great idea if it is what it takes to complete a schedule. A little unorthodox, but what has been normal about our FBS movement anyway?

Actually, whoever came up with this proposal, is thinking outside the box and is brilliant. This is a Bellichek maneuver, I followed exactly what the rule book said. I will venture a guess, this idea came from Liberty's side. Only reason, they have been planning how to do FBS for a while. If either team can get another team for that season and the other can find a away game replacement, move the games out. If unable, you met the requirements. Let's say in 2018, Liberty can get a lower MAC and lower SB tp visit in 2018. That meets the requirements, if NMSU can book an away FBS game, then move that game t0 2020. Some option applies to NMSU. No risk only reward.
After the WAC stopped sponsoring football only Idaho and NMSU were left of the FB playing schools. To quickly create a schedule they had set up an in season H&H between the two. Then as the ducks were lined up, it turns out both schools were able to find enough opponents they turned the H&H into a regular FB schedule we are use to.

I would not be surprised if the agreement between NMSU and Liberty has the same arrangement. This way if no opponents are found for the two years, the two schools have a full schedule. But if NMSU and Liberty can find other opponents, then they could release one of the games in the agreement.

If Idaho's President hadn't surrendered, I'm certain that Liberty and Idaho would set up the same H&H arrangements.
