This must be a blow to both Duke and Carolina, each of whom has a ton of minutes and exposure to offer uncommitted five star players. I think a lot of pundits are surprised that Knox didn't wind up in the Triangle, if only for one year.

If Tony Bradley stays in the draft - and why wouldn't he - Carolina looks like a team that might be able to hang on to a berth in the Top 25, but I can't see them going deep in the NCAAT.

Duke, at least, still seems to be in the running for other five star recruits in this class, but unless they land one or two, I think they are in the same boat as Carolina. Could 2017-18 be a down year for ACC hoops like 2016-17 was a stellar one?

It looks like Bradley will return to Chapel Hill (he is projecting in the mid-thirties) and the Heels have a good chance to make it back to the final four for the third straight year.
If Bradley does return to school, that would mean that only one player from the last two NCAA champions (Justin Jackson) was drafted by the NBA in the year they won. A second player, Josh Hart of Villanova, might get drafted this year after returning to school, though he is projected as a late second rounder.

If this trend were to continue, one wonders whether coaches will still sell their souls to recruit multiple one-and-dones if it doesn't lead to championships. Calipari is on record as saying winning NCAATs is not his primary goal as Kentucky's coach (getting his kids into the NBA is). Will that eventually lead to a rift between Cal and UK boosters that can't be healed?

There are two main sports for UK Fans. Men's Basketball, and Men's Basketball Recruiting. And I think Recruiting is actually #1.

However -- That rift is starting ... I don't know about "can't be healed", but it is definitely starting. A recent poll on the rival's Cats Illustrated site had it at 50/50 regarding one-and-dones with the faithful there.

They all still say they support Calipari, but I can guarantee one thing ...

If Louisville wins another title before they do, that seat gets HOT for Cal. I think that would be the thing that would really turn the tide in the fan base on the one-and-done thing.

If Calamari can't turn those #1 recruiting classes into NC then I can see the rift getting more noticeable. Especially, as you say, if Louisville wins another before them.
Duke just announced the commitment of Trevon Duval, a 5 star point guard. Duval is the Devil's sixth Freshman commit, and their fifth in the ESPN100 rankings. They have one open scholarship, which they have offered to the #3 player on ESPN's list, Mohamed Bamba, a 7'-0" power forward.

Duval is listed at #5, while PF Wendell Carter is #4 and SG Gary Trent #7 on ESPN's list.

Presumably, Duval was waiting to see if Frank Jackson would leave (he just signed with an agent) or stay.

K seems to be one-upping Calipari this year. Kentucky has five recruits in the top 25, but none higher than #8 Kevin Knox. If either Duke or Kentucky land Bamba (both are in his final four teams, along with Michigan and Texas) they would have 9 of the top 25 between them this year.

The only other schools with more than one are UCLA and Alabama (2 each). Expect the Tide to receive a lot of attention from the NCAA compliance staff.
This is why it is a crime to deny kids representation. How is a 17 year old supposed to make an informed decision? He needs to know about the schools and the coaches that are recruiting him. He needs to know who they are recruiting. Who might be coming or going. You can't Google that stuff.

You don't think these kids have that information? And yes, you can google that stuff (not that they need to).

It's being organized by the AAU circuit & the shoe companies.
"Get his kids to the NBA". What a bunch of bs; like those kids couldn't get to the NBA at Joe and Wayne's College of Refrigeration. UK has turned into a weigh station and if these kids gel into a championship team so be it. But basically, they are there for a semester.

No I do not. Try googling how many times a coach/school has taken a scholarship away. Try googling who is thinking about leaving a school. Is there a website that lists coaches and schools that live or don't live up to their promises?

You could probably figure out if a coach is recruiting another kid at your position. Then you have to figure out if that kid is being recruited by other coaches, what school that kid might be leaning towards. Then you have to figure out if that kid might be ahead of you in the depth chart. Can you google whether a point guard from Little Town, Arkansas would be ahead of you?

If a kid says no, the coach puts another kid on his list. More info you have to try and keep up with. It's a never ending cycle.
Every year the Wildcats completely turn their roster over...outside of the Anthony Davis team every year they fall short...07-coffee3
