If the ODU women's coach's seat opens up, I firmly believe ODU should go after Mery Andrade with everything they have. Mery was one of the most passionate players ever to play the game at ODU. She had a pro career of about 10 years -- WNBA and overseas. Currently she's an assistant at San Diego.

If you don't know Mery, Google her.

I firmly believe she'd keep the team together and move it forward.

Let Wood Seligh know.

got my vote
Why not try a man? And why not go outside of the program? Don't you think we need new blood?

You're right, just keep an open mind is all I'm asking. ODU's WBB team has never had a male coach. Maybe it's time.
What are everyone's thoughts on David Six at Hampton?
He was the high school coach when I was in high school and my history teacher. His players LOVE him.

2 years of coaching experience?

25-8 last year
14-16 this year

IMO not enough experience to be considered for a head spot. Couple years from now? Maybe. But today heck no. Need someone who can rebuild this program and they will need to do it by recruiting AND coaching. Two areas that are unknowns for Andrade
So Barefoot had her name in the new practice facility.... and never used it... does the new coach get their name put on the floor?

If I remember correctly, every coach who has coached at ODU has their name on the floor.
We won't ever compete with UConn, Tennessee, or Baylor again, but the idea of hiring a head coach from another low major just makes me cringe. Selig needs to make a move here that checks one of these boxes:

1) Former ODU great (Nancy, Anne, etc.)

2) Up and coming P5 assistant coach that can relate to players out of high school.
Wood knew this was coming, when he didn't renew KB's contract. Right then he should of started making the list.

My fear is he gives it to Dennis Wolff, he's already on the payroll already...look at all the money we can save.

He's actually not on the payroll. Not sure if he will eventually, but hasn't been thus far.

You want to hire a coach based off of their playing career at ODU? 03-lmfao

Might I suggest you do a little homework on each of these before you ask this question
Anne has a great coaching resume in addition to being a legend here.
Nancy has had coaching stints and completely believe her knowledge of the game would be equal to or greater than anyone we hire, plus she is a legend
Mery, is starting her coaching career, but you won't find a harder worker who has a lot of basketball experience under her belt. Plus might she have some international contacts we that could infuse the program with players who can compete in a top 25 environment.

We need someone who intimately understands what the program used to be and has a desire to return it to the glory days.
And which of those could we afford to lure away?
Afford(?) might not be that BIG of a problem if one of them wants to come HOME and coach their alma mater.

Not sure, but you never know until you ask the question
Thanks @84Monarch, clearly the guy who responded before you hasn't paid much attention to either Nancy or Anne's coaching careers.

I don't know that we can afford her now, but I do know that Nancy wanted the job back when Wendy was released and ODU went with Karen instead.

FWIW - one of the major roadblocks to selecting Nancy last time (on the ODU admin side) was she never finished her degree. Guess what(?) - she did it after Karen was hired? She came back and finished it. I would suggest she would not have bothered to finish up while coaching in the NBA unless she wanted that impediment out of the way "if" the ODU coaching position would open up again. Sooo...
