I found this from a Californian columnist I follow, https://twitter.com/MikeGriffith54 Just sharing.

I put it in this forum. If mods want it moved to main board, feel free.

I don't like political takes in my sports but politics is not what drove ESPN down. They paid way too much for broadcast rights and people just don't buy cable anymore. They are digging their own grave though and are in serious trouble. I have no idea what they are thinking firing a bunch of good people and keeping Michael Smith and Jemele Hill in the primetime Sportscenter. It's the worst piece of garbage I have ever seen. The only sports show that I really actually enjoyed and watched everyday was Russillo and Kannel. Now Kannel got laid off and Russillo will have a significantly reduced role which sucks he is a witty, funny guy perfect for radio. ESPN is going to fail fast. Hopefully competing networks will start getting better.

In fact, looking at the list is Jerry Punch, who I think is the father of the WAC's Jessie Punch.

Currently mobile....away from the house or on "the throne."
I agree that ESPN should ditch the talking heads and focus more on games. Some of their stuff like 30 for 30 or even PTI is pretty good, but most of their shows have no appeal to me. Give me lots of highlights, or games.

OT but, anyone remember George Michael Sports Machine? LOL (the 'machine') but, I thought his highlights were pretty good.
Ah yes, George and his machine. I do remember...

I was actually so mad when I saw that Jerry was one of the ones who got laid off. I don't understand how you could layoff of a guy who does multiple sports. He does an amazing job on air and I loved hearing him on broadcasts. I know that Deadspin has a running list of the layoffs, but ESPN let go of some huge names. I'll put the Deadspin link in my singnature so everyone can see.
Just saw that Andy Katz was part of the lay offs. Was a reporter for the ABQ Journal earlier in his career.
That really sucks he was one of the best. I thought for sure he was safe. I hope ESPN burns to the ground.
