Quote:Georgia has dumped one of its football signees shortly after he was charged with assaulting the mother of their infant child.

Coach Kirby Smart announced Sunday that offensive lineman D'Antne Demery was released from his national letter of intent, ending his career with the Bulldogs before it began.

The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Demery was part of one of the nation's top recruiting class and was in Athens for the school's annual G-Day spring football game. He was introduced along with the other signees at halftime, just hours before his arrest.

Demery, who played at Brunswick High School, was charged with simple battery and criminal trespass-damaged property, which are misdemeanors. The Athens Banner Herald reports that the accuser has been dating Demery and was in town for Saturday's G-Day spring football game.

This is interesting to at least 3 different ACC fan bases:

1. Georgia Tech - because it's just another example of how the Bulldogs recruit thugs on a regular basis (though most don't get caught before their freshman year!)

2. Miami - because isn't it reassuring to know for sure it wasn't Richt?

3. Louisville - because hey, 6'7" 310 lbs free agent!

Louisville has rehabilitated worse & yes, we desperately need quality OL.
This situation is sad, but the bottom of your post was really funny.
Oh yeah, this kid has Louisville written all over him.

In the early 80's the Bulldogs slipped a ringer in to take an SAT for a prospective running back from South Georgia. I warned Auburn away from the kid. His high school English teacher told me he couldn't make a legible X for a signature. He had issues in High School but it was all swept under the rug because it was a smallish town and everyone worshiped their High School program.

He played his freshman year at Georgia and couldn't make the grades to get to his Sophomore year. He refused the remedies and was arrested in Atlanta later on assault and purse snatching charges. There's nothing new here. And you better believe that nothing changed when Richt was there either. It's just another day in the life of a Dawg! They all need obedience training! And, some need to be house broken too!
Louisville has a pretty good record of taking players giving them a second chance and them turning out successful

We have different definitions of successful. And as long as you guys are the recycling plant for UGAg convicts, GT fans will always find your program distasteful. Grantham and Petrino or no Grantham and Petrino.

Well that sucks, because our goal in life is to have Georgia Tech fans finding us "tasteful".

If you're going to sell out academics and reputation for talented convicts ... at least win big. If you onboard blue chip recycled convicts only to get blasted by SEC East teams you should house ... then you're just the UGAg of Kentucky. Right down to the colors. But without the (fraudulently won) 1980 NC and faded glory of Herschel to incessantly talk about. But at least you don't pee on visiting fans from the upper deck of the stadium ... so uh ... you got that going for you.

Kidding aside, there aren't a lot of choir boys in football. It's a physical sport in which most players play with an edge. Do we need to get into the struggles of some youths in America again? I'm glad that there are programs out there like Louisville & others that give these the guidance to become positive members of society. When you become a Cardinals you often visit sick kids in area hospitals. You learn discipline & how to be a man. Lorenzo Mauldin grew up going from foster home to foster home & trouble. At Louisville he found a family & what it means to be a positive member of society. Great kid & now professional player. Lamar Jackson this past year fulfilled the dying wish of a local high schooler with cancer & brought her to a game. She has since passed. These are examples of what it means to be a Cardinals.

"We're so quick to judge a young person," Strong said. "I told him, 'Yes, you've been dealt a tough hand. But still other people have been dealt a harder hand than you. You can overcome those circumstances if you handle it the right way.'"

Could it be simple as that? After so many foster homes, Mauldin has lost count—was it 10? Twelve? Sixteen?—and anger issues, trust issues and constant fights, Mauldin wasn't sure.

But fast-forward three-and-a-half years. Mauldin graduated from Louisville this past December with a degree in communications and is projected to be as high as a third-round pick in the NFL draft.

Based on what some draft experts say about Mauldin, there is no hint he'd ever been in trouble. On his NFL.com profile, Mauldin, a 6'4", 259-pound defensive end/outside linebacker, is praised mostly for character and work ethic.

***

And the site quotes an NFL North scout saying, "He overcame a tough childhood and developed a mindset that nothing is going to stop him. ...I'm cheering hard for this kid, and I'll bang the table for him when the time is right."

Still, he is exactly the type of kid who typically falls through the cracks or is labeled a bad kid by people who don't know him. He is the type who disappears; he becomes a statistic instead of a person. But that fate didn't befall Mauldin, thanks to a handful of people who were there to catch him and push him back into the game, into life.

I like to tease Louisville fans, but I agree in giving a kid another chance - as long as there's real evidence that he is ready to make a change.
Every football team has unsavory characters on it. That's just he nature of the beast, but I doubt he gets a shot at any ACC school instantly he will probably go Juco first.03-yawn

I do love how the gtechswig fan is turning his nose so high in the sky he can't see straight.......07-coffee3

They should have to drop down to FCS or DII to prove they can handle the work outside of the spotlight.

They have to be able to read and write first! Do you think those DII schools are going to give them tutors, underwater basket weaving courses, or even fabricate a whole curriculum for them? I don't!

Louisville has picked up a transfer from Oklahoma.

http://www.courier-journal.com/story/spo...100867210/

The 6-foot-1, 193-pound Mbanasor, who attended high school in Pflugerville, Texas, near Austin, announced his decision on Twitter. He is a former four-star recruit who was ranked the No. 74 prospect and No. 6 cornerback nationally in the 2015 class by ESPN.com. That would be among the highest rankings of anyone on U of L’s roster.

***
Louisville was among the many power-conference schools – including LSU, Florida, Ohio State, Texas and Notre Dame – to offer him a scholarship out of Hendrickson High School.
The addition of Mbanasor should help replenish a Louisville cornerback unit that will lose senior starter Trumaine Washington and senior backup Ronald Walker after next season and could see top junior Jaire Alexander positioned for an early jump to the NFL draft. The Cards had two other senior backups – Shaq Wiggins and Alphonso Carter – transfer out of the program this spring.
U of L has also added three cornerbacks, including Under Armour All-American Russ Yeast, in the 2017 signing class.
Kansas junior-college corner Antonio Howard, who is an unsigned member of the 2017 class, said he plans to visit U of L on May 1 and could be another late addition to the roster.

That's why he's joining a real team, to have a chance at revenge.

Well Frog Bog was fun anyway, especially for the kids. In my generation it was accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and kick Mr. In Between's butt. So it's a positive that we cover for them, and negative when you get caught and necessary to boot those out that refuse to play along.

You just can't get through a day without a really solid rationalization! At least in the SEC we don't rationalize, we just do and don't feel guilty about it. But then we don't really stoop to the level of imaginary classes in bogus majors complete with fraudulent credit hours and make them billable.

And besides, if they are a real problem there is always transfer. Michael Dyer anyone?
