I hadn't considered the D-league angle with Haha. I would say he probably is talented enough to make a D-league roster at this point. Hopefully he thinks he'll get better prepared playing the college game among his friends and familiar surroundings rather than chasing a $50k paycheck.
Yep, $50-75k is a decent living, and a lot of money to a college kid.
Well if Lee leaves at least it will give everyone an easy and convenient excuse if the team underperforms again.

+1
Or it could give us hope that we actually could perform up to our expectations.

No. It would cause everyone to lower their expectations.

A lot of fans on this board are really good at that.

Yep.
I guess expecting to win a crappy conference is unrealistic.

Unrealistic is losing your starting point guard and not changing your expectations.

If Lee were to go pro, unrealistic would be losing your leading scorer and not changing your expectations.

I thought you said late in the season that Lee and Cokely played with no effort and that we will be better off once these juniors are gone. Or words to that effect.

Words were not to that effect.

He did. So based on MB logic we should expect to make it to the Sweet 16 next year if Lee leaves.
What I said was UAB would be a better team in two or three years. Some interpreted that to mean after last years junior class was gone. Some interpreted it to mean after the coach gained experience.

I have also said that Lee at times play with no energy and disappears. I have not said that about Cokley. His disappearancs are generally due to fouls.

If you are going to throw my posts back in my face, get the **** straight.
We could survive easier next season if Lee left versus if Cokley left.
What some call excuses others call looking at things called facts.

Last year we had-
Nobody who could create his own shot
Nobody we could count on to make a basket when the other team went on a run
Nobody who could create shots for others(once norton went down)
Nobody who was a deadly three point shooter(our two best were probably Smallwood and darling and the pt was minimal there)
No true big
No leader on the court

If you think those things are a recipe for success in college basketball today, please explain why. My expectation is that UAB become a power in this conference, along with hopefully mtsu, wku, and odu. Last year was not a year we were going to assert ourselves in that position once norton went down. Our staff went out and at least tried to fill some needs in the offseason. The new guys may not work out, but that's always the case. At least we have a scorer and a pg coming in for sure, and those were needs. If we can get a juco/transfer big then I like everything the staff has done personnel wise in the offseason. The growing pains were obvious for the staff coaching last year, but hopefully they learned and are planning how they will handle things differently next year.

You can't just assume because we have UAB on our jersey that we should go out and thrash any conference opponent with any five guys.
