It is too bad that he completely blew up the bridge when he left W&M. We could really use each other at this point. I have no idea how the NCAA would view his coming back to W&M. A completely stupid and moot mind wandering on my part.

I remember that sometime in the late 70"s or early 80 we had a young man that transferred out to either American or GW?? and he changed his mind before he actually played or practiced with the team. He was allowed to come back. This was during Bruce's Tenure. I am not sure that Jack can return even if he wanted to, but he may be allowed to take some more undergraduate courses. Anyone have any idea's as if this is possible?? If Greg and Jack were really close friends, he may want to come back if Jack does!! Just thinking!!
I guess Jack didn't like the Kansas "resort" that much.
I love how the reporting out of Kansas talks about how they are thin now at the post with only 3 people. I get that's thin for them, but makes them look flush with resources compared to us!

I also loved how they said that Self thinned out the position to make room for a big time 5 star recruit. I guess a 2.5 star recruit wasn't good enough for him, I hope he lives to regret this action. Welcome to the big time basketball where winning and money is everything

I keep seeing people say this but how did he blow up the bridge? I don't recall him blasting the coaches, and he showed up at the post-season basketball dinner. What did he do that was so wrong?

I *think* the party line on this thinking is that he blind-sided the staff/team with his decision.

The blindsiding may very well be true, but desperate times may be salve for sore feelings. He is regarded as the number 1 available transfer big man. He is better than any other transfer we are looking at and will immediately produce more than any late signing freshman will. It would elevate this years team to arguably the best interior tandem in the CAA. So yes, I'm all for his return and don't think it will sink this season's team. That said, being the top available big, I'm sure he is getting suitors from all over. I highly doubt he comes back unless some serious bridge mending occurs. I'm not sure if either side is even interested in that.

I agree with everything you're saying. I think the team would benefit from him coming back. I think Jack would benefit from him coming back. I think as fans we'd benefit from him coming back.

Just seems so unlikely for it to happen.

""If Jack Whitman’s departure from the Kansas basketball program were nothing more than a convenient means of clearing a roster spot for the possibility of landing Marvin Bagley III, then that would have happened much later, so it’s not that.

This time it actually does appear to be Whitman’s decision and not one he was talked into, although based on the lack of buzz he created during his summer in Lawrence and the ho-hum, so-long statement from coach Bill Self, it doesn’t appear anybody tried talking him out of it, either.

Whitman didn’t look as good in the Bill Self Basketball Camp scrimmages against big-time athletes as he did executing nice footwork for buckets on YouTube in Colonial Athletic Association games."

If indeed this was simply a matter of a reality check, then I have no doubt in Coach Shaver's wise leadership to understand that maturation journey, and accept him back, if Jack makes that determination. One thing for sure, he needs to make a right second choice.

He suddenly left for a reason so we clearly don't have what he wants.
