Blessed to have been a Bearcat!
Anybody have any background on this decision? This seems like something out of left field.
This doesn't feel like much of a loss. UC ranked near the bottom of FBS in punting for the last several years.
He posted his stats of top 6 net punt sophomore year.. then top for punts inside the 20 his junior year.. can't imagine there is much demand for him at a major school.. that's some selective stats to post..

well this year I did this decently, and this year I did that decently(ignore the new net punt number)
He wasn't helped much by his special teams grad assistant coaching staff.

I don't think anyone was helped by any aspect of the coaching staff..

I was half expecting to reread that and a poor joke stating "special grad assistant coaching staff" was what you actually typed..
Doesn't seem to be his choice . Been hearing they already have some one lined up .

#UC punter and #Moeller grad Geraci leaving. Hearing #Bearcats may bring in another punter.

I hope they didn't take his scholarship away. It's one thing to bring a better player in and tell a guy he doesn't figure to play, something else to pull his scholly. I don't want to root for that kind of program.
I think he was a grey shirt in 2013 so with 4 years of college under his belt he should be pretty close to a degree at least.
He was a competent punter, but nothing special. If Fickell thinks a replacement can do better, he likely told Geraci that he was not going to be the first team punter and Geraci simply decided to take his talents elsewhere.
Didn't he have knee problems with his kicking leg? If I recall Dan Hoard referring to it during a game. Ball pointed down punt didn't hurt but a full extension spiral wasn't good because of a knee issue.
I hope to hell we have someone lined up. The punt is the most important play in football.
Looks like we have an Aussie coming in. Schools all over the country have been picking them up, including OSU a couple years ago.

I'm hoping it works out better than the Aussie He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named brought in, though to be fair he got injured in practice and never saw the field on game day. Lindsay Crook, I believe it was.

The owner of an Australian sports club just tweeted this. Can't find a last name for the kid though.
Looks like his name is James Smith.

He wasn't a punter though
It says he went from Cali to Washington and never mentions UC. How did you come up with thiss young man's name and intentions?

Big difference is the brought Crook in to be a RB, then moved him to TE and then to LB iIRC. The transition to be a punter is not as great, especially since we are doing Rugby style punting nowadays anyway.
