Being reported he is taking the Indiana job. Dayton would be a step up for Forbes, he wouldn't have to rebuild and we couldn't match the money. They at least know his name from the game earlier and he was all over the place before the NCAA started.
I'm thinking Pat Kelsey. There has to be some reason he backed out of UMass like that.

He signed the contract, it has a 2 million dollar buyout, I wonder if UMass will hold him to reduce it. If he goes back to Winthrop probably, if he takes another job I would demand the full 2 million.

Also UMASS was going to pay him 800K a year/ 5 years. Miller was making around 1.2 but 3 years ago he was making a bit less then 700k. I don't see Dayton paying much more (if any)then 800k.
Interesting twist, some Dayton fans are wanting the coach that Indiana just fired to replace the coach that Indiana just hired.

Tom Crean would be an outstanding hire for them, and an even better move for him after getting let go at IU.

Miller was closer to 2 mil after a couple raises and was even offered 3+mil to stay at Dayton. Dayton will pay big if they want a guy.

The modern era consensus is that a person has to look out for himself in the college coaching line of work and go where the money resides, first and foremost. However, it's the loyal donors to their respective institutions that are left holding the proverbial bag and virtually end up as suckers. The contracts that these coaches sign now days are either very one-sided or not worth the paper they're written on.
Anthony Grant seems like a logical choice. Dayton alum that helped build VCU into the MM powerhouse it is now. Kinda flamed out at bama, but VCU coaches have a horrible track record in HM jobs (jury's still out on Shaka). Plus, he's an assistant with the Thunder now.
Anthony Grant it is
