He is bigger then that. He has grown since the start of season. My guess is he is 5'10 or so but quick. Huggins recruited a kid name Bolden who is about the same size but a shooter
He's a better baseball player if you can imagine that. If Scott had any size it would have gone a long way. Zion Harmon plays for BG as an 8th grader and is rated #1 in the nation, but he won't be in KY next year.

Jake is committed to University of the Cumberlands to play both right now. I could see him landing a NKU offer.

Then maybe we should offer him for baseball and have him walk-on for bball?

Remember Stephen Curry is only 6'3 and he is undersized in the pros. If you can light it up size is not a big factor. Remember Muggsy Bogues he was Small 5'3" but mighty. Played in the NBA from 1987 to 2001.
We don't need a kid who is 5'10" that can "really shoot the ball". Doesnt translate to D-1 ball.
He was the 10th Region POY and had a few 40 and a 50pt game. Hit a buzzer beater 3 and had 30 in the regional finals over Campbell County to advance to State. Finished with 104 in the Regionals.

Averaged 26ppg and shot 85% from FT, 52% Fg and 40% from 3.

I'm a Scott grad so this doesn't sound as stalkerish.

He's better than UofCumberlands but not UC level.

Correct. This kid would likely never see the floor at a major D-1 program. If he could play on that level he would have loads of offers.

Tied for 14th all time. Tied with Chris Lofton, Wes Unseld, JR VanHoose, and Trent Gilbert. Lofton, Gilbert, and Unseld in 4 games.

Jake Ohmer's numbers in the 10th Region Tournament & Sweet 16 (6 games...per The Ledger Independent's Evan Dennison):

* 210 points (35 ppg)
* 63 rebounds (10.5 rpg)
* 70-128 FG's (54%)
* 21-45 3pt FG's (46%)
* 47-53 FT's (88%)

i'm not opposed but if we can use a baseball schollie instead of a bball one, i would prefer that option. Mick made an interesting comment in the preview interviews today. He noted that the 3 pointer has become a weapon and that the physical, athletic player is getting phased out of the NBA with a big emphasis on shooting. if he can get buckets they'll be a place for him.
Jarr...jarr.....jarr are you in here?

Pretty sure you can't do that. IIRC, the sport which is played first during the academic year is the one that must cover the scholarship. Besides, a baseball scholarship would probably only be a partial anyway since there are only 11.7 baseball scholarships allotted per school.

Anybody remember Chris Lofton? He openly stated he wanted to play for us and we used the last scholarship on Tyree Evans instead. He also lit up the KY state tournament, and I think the knick on him was he was too short and too small. I believe Lofton ended up Tennesse's all all time leading scorer, even more than Allen Houston.

I actually think Von Hanford at Cov Cath is the better D1 prospect. He has offers from schools like NKU, Winthrop, Valpo,DePaul, and not sure who else.
Ohmer could be a zone buster. He handles the ball well. Heady player scored a 24'on his ACT. There are Local kids all over D1 that UC did not recruit.

Following from article written in 2014

"Lofton's list of schools were Tennessee, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida, Louisville, North Carolina State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. The Bearcats and Vols were the only two schools to offer him a basketball scholarship. Lofton ultimately chose to play for the Vols.

During his recruitment, Lofton was waiting on Kentucky and Louisville to offer him a scholarship, but it never happened.

To this day, Lofton doesn't regret committing to Tennessee and would do it all over again if he could."

Not sure why the rbs. Turned into RBI but I can assure you I typed rbs per game.
Having said that Jake does pitch. He led Scott to the KY state finals in 2015. They lost out to Louisville St Xavier in the finals.

Chris Lofton was 6'2". This Ohmer kid seems like he can play but does not have the build or athleticism to succeed at the D1 level. He would be a nice pickup for a D2 school.
