Zaria Wright:
Wright, who last weekend played her final game for cfa Academy, fell just short of scoring 3,000 career points, although her total of 2,989 still is a spectacular achievement.

Wright, a combination guard, has signed with the University of Toledo. Last week, she led the Eagles to the semifinals of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament.

“She’s been here a while, and she’s set a lot of records,” cfa Academy coach William Middlebrooks said of Wright, who averaged about 22 points per game this season.

“She’s just a winner.”

Saw parts of the ND game last night. Copeland was taking shots all night from somewhere near the locker room. Seriously, the closest jumper she took was about 5 feet behind the arc. She missed quite a few, but drained 3 or 4 that hit nothing but net. I now see why Coach recruited her. If she can consistently hit shots like that for UT it will open up the rest of the court substantially for the other players. Wasn't able to see too much else about her game, so will be interesting to see how ready she is to play as a freshman.

Cummings looks to be a work in progress. Big body that can clog the lane, and looks to be a pretty good rebounder already, although she is playing against smaller competition. Had 1 really nice blocked shot. Looked kinda slow though, and she got her shot stuffed about 3-4 times by smaller players. Also said to be only a 50% FT shooter. UT needs a big that can make hay at the FT line.
Cummings had 28 points and 14 rebounds in the State Semi Final game.
