Already seen 1 post on their board from someone who graduated from ETSU but is a "life long gator fan". Good grief.
We can win this game - we have great guard play, and our boys in the middle can hold their own. All that being said, it's a tough gam. Wish I could be there.

and? Guy probably was born in Florida and never heard of ETSU until he was 16-17 or so. Only on this board do I see people who can't understand how someone can stay loyal to their state school even if they don't go there for college. I am a life long Vol fan, sorry if that makes me less of an ETSU fan, your opinion.

What has been explained? You are a bit slow? It has never been a secret that I am a UT fan, not the only one on the board but most keep quiet because, well people like you. I am also a life long ETSU fan. 35+ years of going to basketball games with my father, well before I attended college though I was going to school there.

When it comes to basketball, ETSU, not even close and I have been to Knoxville more than once proving that as well as at Freedom Hall this past year.
A quick look at Florida's schedule and they are kind of reeling at the moment. On a two game losing streak, both to Vandy (and Vandy beat them early in the year for the hat-trick). The loss of Egbunu is big for us.

Common opponents this year:

Beat Mercer 76-54

Beat UT 83-70

Beat Miss St. 57-52

Oh I am sure that is the case. I used to notice lots of those Florida transplants back in the mid 00's. It seems now that lots of people from Alabama have decided to make East TN their home now again after about a 10 year absence from 97-07. Weird.
I have a coworker who went to Florida. He and I usually tease each other about KY vs FL throughout basketball season. May have to come up with a fun bet for this one.

I don't get it either.
FLORIDA 24-8; 14-4; currently on a 2 game losing streak, both to Vandy

I haven't seen these guys play so will only point out some facts on the record.

We have 3 common opponents: they beat UT 83-70 on January 7 at home. We didn't. They also beat Mississippi State 57-52 February 18 on the road in Starkville. They beat Mercer by 22, 76-54, in the Bears first game of the year in Jacksonville. The Bucs beat Mercer by 17 in Johnson City. They beat Mississippi State by 5, we beat them by 2.

They’ve lost all 3 games to Vandy, a team which Chattanooga had beat and blew it at the end. They split with Kentucky, split with South Carolina, lost to Florida State in Tallahassee, to Duke in New York and to Gonzaga at home in Gainesville.

They beat Arkansas twice, and knocked off mid majors Belmont, FCGU and North Florida.

These guys shine on defense. In conference games they hold opponents to .408 FG% (2nd in SEC), to a mere .297 from 3 with 94 makes (5.2 per game) in 18 games (1st in conference on both counts). They are 2nd in the SEC in grabbing steals (7.4) and 3rd in forcing opponents turnovers (14.6). In they end they hold conference opponents to 67.4, 2nd best in conference.

On the offensive end they average 78.3, (4th best in the SEC). 2P% is a middling 6th in SEC .499. 3P% is much better: 2nd at .376 with 8.6 makes. 3 point shooters are guards KeVaughn Allen (.399 with 2.2 makes) and 6-6 Canyon Berry (.347 with 1.3 makes), and forwards Devon Robinson (.389 with 1.2 makes) and Justin Leon (.390 with 1.3 makes). Freshman Guard Eric Hester will make 3’s, but only gets 6.4 minutes in about half the games. Scoring chores get spread around (13.9 to 9.8 among the top 4) without one real “go to” guy.

Rebounds (6th), assists (6th) and turnovers (6th) are middling in the SEC. [EDIT as Runningfool points out 6-11 255 John Egbunu is gone with an ACL, taking away 7.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks - without him the Bucs do not match up badly physically at all. The Gators did not lose him till near the season's end, so these stats probably do not reflect the current abilities of the team that well. Runningfool also says that Canyon Barry is struggling with ankle problems.]

Boy would I like to see the Bucs attack with the energy we showed the second half against UNCG! I would bet good money on those Bucs.

GUARDS:
1 KeVauhn Allen 6-2 183 So. Guard; 28.3 minutes, 13.9 points, .460 FG%, .399 from 3, 2.2 makes; 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals
2 Canyon Barry 6-6 215 Gr. Guard; 21.9 minutes, 12.1 points, .425 FG%, .347 from 3, 1.3 makes; 2.9 rebounds, 0.5 steals
4 Kasey Hill 6-1 175 Sr. Guard; 28.9 minutes, 9.8 points, .403 FG%, .211 from 3, 0.3 makes; 2.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.1 t.o.’s, 1.7 steals
7 Chris Chiozza 6-0 176 Jr Guard; 21.6 minutes, 6.9 points, .407 FG%, .291 from 3, 0.8 makes; 3.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.5 t.o.’s, 1.3 steals

FRONT COURT:
3 Devin Robinson 6-8 200 Jr. Forward; 26.1 minutes, 10.9 points, .468 FG%, .389 from 3, 1.2 makes; 6.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals
[Edit: OUT FOR YEAR WITH ACL] 5 John Egbunu, 6-11 255 Rs-Jr. Center; 22.3 minutes, 7.8 points, .496 FG%, no 3’s, .567 FT%, 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.8 turnovers
6 Justin Leon, 6-8 206 Senior, Forward; 21.8 minutes, 7.0 points, .418 FG%, .390 from 3, 1.3 makes, 3.7 rebounds
8 Kevarrius Hayes 6-9 218 So F/Cnter; 16.9 minutes, 6.0 points, .588 FG%, no 3’s, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 blocks
9 Keith Stone 6-8 240 Rs-Fr Forward; 12.6 minutes, 3.8 points, .417 FG%, .302 from 3, 0.4 makes, 2.3 rebounds
Canyon Barry is the son of Rick Barry (named as one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players).

Like his dad, Canyon shoots free throws underhand. Like his dad, Canyon converts at a very high percentage.

Florida has great athletes, but ETSU still needs to push the pace. The Buc guards need to be aggressive, but under control.

The biggest obstacle for a mid-major playing a P5 team is the mental aspect. The Bucs can't go in with the mindset that each player has to have their greatest game ever. We simply need for each player to relax and play well.

As was stated earlier, the second-half team from the UNCG game would do quite nicely.
In case you missed it, here is the Bucs reaction during the selection show yesterday.

Unfortunate that Florida gets essentially a home game. Neutral courts can be the great equalizer.
This is still an insanely winnable game. We pulled the weakest 4, and it's not even close.

I'm not too worried about that. When Mercer beat Duke it was played in Raleigh, just a few miles from Duke's Campus. The whole arena outside of Duke fans were pulling for Mercer.

Also in 2004 when we almost beat Cincy, that game was played in Columbus, which is a couple of hours from Cincy I think. Again the entire arena outside of the Cincy fans were loud and pulling for ETSU.

If we keep it close or can lead at any point then I expect much of the same from the crowd in Orlando.
Everyone loves the underdog. If we can get past the gators I think UVA is very beatable too. Don't want to see Kevin Keatts again. I think UNCW will take down the 'hoos though. ETSU is a really trendy pick right now. Enjoy the ride everyone. We're really lucky to have such a great group of guys representing our school.

Just stop and think of the mood of this program and fans this time 2 years ago. It's fun again folks!
I will have a single game ticket in Section 102, Row 23 for sale if anyone is in need. Should be other Buc fans in the same row/section. PM Me
