La Tech and USM should cohost the tournament in New Orleans.

Or MTSU & WKU could cohost in Nashville.

Both cities give fans lots more to do, see and places to eat more so than Birmingham, Biloxi or Shreveport.

If UTSA gets it going San Antonio would be nice.

Or Rice hosting in Houston would be good. Just get us out of the rut.

What fans are flocking to the tourney exactly? need to have it in Birmingham where the home team is at least good (hopefully) and can be well attended.
If the home team loses, the arena will be empty.

Should maybe give it to MTSU for a year & then let everyone figure out something to complain about there.
"Middle Tennessee (28-4), with an RPI of 36, will be on the bubble. Conference USA has been a one-bid league since 2013."

That's a damned shame, and it says it all about the status of C-USA as a basketball league. If the only way that a team with that record can get in is by winning the conference tournament, that's a crushing indictment of the bottom half of the league. Unfortunately, UAB drags the RPI down this year.
The format for the C-USA tournament has not changed since we had teams like UL, Cincy, Memphis, DePaul, etc... have we outgrown... under grown this format?

This may be a bad idea, but if its about tickets sold, let the 1 seed host teams 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12 & the 2 seed host 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, & 11. Tue-Thu & the winners facing off at a home of highest remaining seed Saturday. Same setup for women. If one school has men & women in top 2, they choose which tournament to host, and 3 seed gets the other tournament.

I also feel downgrade of CUSA has hurt UAB attendance greatly.
That, combined with the fact that we had to play the 1st day & had a barely over .500 record.
Give it to Shreveport for a year so Tech fans will STFU.

Logistically, most teams can't handle that, especially on short notice. Often seed aren't set until the last day. For example this year, where are that many teams going to stay in Ruston La.
Plenty of places in Shreveport. Problem is a facility for the women. I'd go.

That might explain Wednesday, but on Thursday we were coming off a win with a bump in optimism. The crowd didn't look much better, and whatever difference there was would be LaTech fans.
Seems to me like it should be an easy fix....8 men's teams and 8 women's teams qualify and you play the tournament in the same building. 14 games over 4 days in the same building seems feasible?
They should move it from Wed AM thru Sat night to Thurs AM thru Sun afternoon. Easier for travelers...
Conference tourney attendance will probably always suck. This is a terrible conference.

Yep, but its not a situation that's unique to C-USA. I don't think its really about things to do. Its more to do with quality and rivalry of teams playing. In addition, C-USA is so spread out attendance will always suck. Traveling to or from El Paso when your team has no shot is not gonna happen. There needs to be a strong top half of the conference with rivalries among them for multiple years.
it is definitely not unique to conference USA. All the reasons you listed are valid as to why attendance sucks at our conference tournament.
& supposedly there is only 1 concession stand open at the Legacy Arena.

Welcome to Birmingham.

Welcome to Birmingham.

Concessions this year were subpar compared to the last two years...
Great crowd here considering no UAB. Concessions typical Birmingham :-/
