The NBC deal allows for one relatively minor game per year (not the biggies like Southern Cal, etc.) to be placed on to NBC Sports. Everyone knew this.

This is kind of like putting an ACC contest on the ACC Network instead of ESPN.

I see it as more of a gimmick to promote NBCSN than a statement of the status of the ND program.

NBCSN previously carried ND's game with Boston College played at Fenway Park two years ago. I believe it got pretty solid TV ratings.

Correct, despite Green's attempts to "spin" otherwise.

This is old news and is in the contract ND signed in 2013 to renew the NBC deal from 2015-25.

ND home hockey games are also all on NBC Sports for the same reason, to beef up that cable sports network.

Now, if NBC had put the Miami (Fla.) game on there instead of Miami (OH), that WOULD be an indication that one of the two programs had a diminished status.

Only hardcore ND fans and the 20k Miami fans will watch it anyways.

The NBCSN needs something to watch on there besides curling.
