In press conference they said stadium to be enlarged to 35,000 seats.
Awesome! Get the party started!!!
I am so excited I can barely type straight!!!!!!!!
Congrats Flames, good to see the NCAA get something right.
Great news for LU. It's now time for the school admins to keep a level head so quality FBS teams will schedule LU on the road, and most importantly at home.

Congrats to the NCAA in giving their approval as they likely saw the upheaval that was going to occur if LU continued not to be invited into a conference.

Follow up.
How long can LU remain an indy? Is this a permanent status as long as LU meets the scheduling/attendance/facilities requirements?
I think LU will remain Independent only until a conference spot is offered to them. Hopefully we are competitive, have some early success, and a good fan following (25,000 or more). I suspect our only options will be C-USA or AAC. I think the SunBelt bridge has been burnt. However, I suppose some new conference could form. Given our history, that may be most likely.

I expect the BSC to vote to allow the rest of LU's sports to remain in the BSC. It will be interesting should they not. I would then expect LU to join the Atlantic Sun in all sports but football. I would love to move into a bigger more competitive conference, but I don't see that happening yet.

The putrid BSC traveling fan base of teams coming to LU will improve substantially with most any teams traveling to Williams Stadium. With a 25% home base jump and 1,000 +/- for away fans attending, that should work well for future LU home game attendance.

I have attended BSC home games at LU and there seemed 50 or less fans from away teams. Pretty dismal for a FCS conference.
I assume BSC will allow other LU sports to stay. There are really only four options.

1. BSC
2. A-Sun
3. Southern
4. Independence
I wanted to congratulate you all. I have long been a supporter for Liberty becoming FBS. I hope to see you all play in Raleigh!

And congrats to you for kind comments on the poll question also.
Congrats LU fans for your waiver! I will miss our football games played against one another. I believe in 10 years you all will be a solid FBS program contending against UVA for the position of 2nd best program in the state.

Good Luck!
Are y'all going to move this page to the FBS independent category instead of the Big South?

I don't know. That's a really good question that I'm sure GTS will weigh in on if we ask him.

Personally, I think the FBS Independent board is silly. Everyone has a non-football home so the individual school boards should be there but I can be particular about my organizational style. To each there own so I imagine we'll be wherever we ask to be.

If we are someone kicked out of the Big South or move to another conference for our non-football sports, I'd like our board to be on whichever one is more active, or both. I'd like to have more (friendly) activity on our board.
Congratulations guys!

God bless!

Ignore the angry atheists and tolerance haters.
Woke up today and realized it wasn't a dream! I am still SO happy!!

Congratulations Liberty fans. I expect good things soon as you clearly have the budgets, facilities, fan base, and institutional commitment to be successful sooner than later. Maybe our teams will meet soon down the road. I wish your move to the independent ranks, along with NMSU, would have inspired our former in-state rival to give independence in FBS another go, but I am happy for you guys.
Yes, I wish Idaho had stayed FBS as well. They have shown they can be competitive. And a good number of Indy's makes scheduling easier.

It's too bad that as soon as Idaho gets competitive, they have to move down. Such is politics. Hopefully one day Liberty and Boise State can meet on the field!
