I just hope they don't go cold early. I also wish they had more inside presence. Washington is capable as is Caupain, but I'd like to see some bulkier bodies inside to clean the glass.

But you play with what you have.
I was really surprised to see Cumberland get as few minutes as he did against SMU. He's the only guy on this team who will drive the lane.

Absolutely this. He really seems to be this team's offensive spark. I don't know what Mick's thinking was, but I kept screaming at the TV for Jarron.
In his short time in the game he chucked up two long threes early in the clock and had a really bad foul on a rebound of a free throw.

That gets you benched on almost every team.

Well he actually made one of those 3s, so going 50% from 3-point range maybe shouldn't get him benched? And his foul after that FT attempt was with 5 minutes left in the game, so that can't really explain why Cumberland had only played in about 5 of the previous 35 minutes.

I don't really see how it's defensible that Cumberland got 7 minutes in a big game.

I agree he should have played more. Not to pick on him, but he also lost his guy on defense and give up a wide open alley oop in the half court. But I still think you talk it over with him and get him back out there.
With the way uc played offense in the second half Cumberland needed to play more.
Great. The SI jinx. I'd rather people keep underestimating us.

Totally agree about Jarron. He's my new "cowbell".

Was this before they saw us fold at SMU?

Nothing says offense more than hanging 51 on SMU.
Great article. About time UC was getting this kind of press.

Yes. Did you watch the SMU game?
I did both. Apparently you need to brush up on your reading skills ...

They’ve certain been winning plenty, too: Cincinnati’s loss to fellow AAC frontrunner SMU on Sunday was its first Dec. 10, ending a 15-game win streak. And recent back-to-back grinders against two of the stingiest teams in the country shouldn’t skew the broader picture:
Of course you can't skew what already is.

My guess is he wrote it before the SMU game and then posted it after. Either way, one loss doesn't negate an article that analyzes a season's worth of data.

cumberland only good when he's in game with JJ. They get out in transition with no walking ball up court crap. I think troy could benefit from some easy looks on wing from JJ also.

I want this lineup in final games before march

JJ
caupain
cumberland
evans
washington

Yeah, Jarron didn't start off great but I think that's somewhat expected for freshmen in huge road games against good teams. He never really got a chance to get comfortable out there. Was disappointing because he could've helped.

I like where you're going with this, but Gary has to play down the stretch. No one comes up with more clutch rebounds or passes as well out of the post.
