Offers from Purdue, Illinois, Creighton, Texas, Oklahoma, Utah, etc., etc. ... Dare to be different. I hope he signs with Toledo because he would elevate our program to extraordinary heights. Who wouldn't want to be a part of something like that? It's a legacy you simply cannot create at the bigger programs. Make Toledo a bigger program, all it takes is 1 superstar, Epperson certainly is that superstar we need.

You already have some good players that are coming into the program.
Jacob would be a nice addition. Great to have the Eppersons on campus again. Btw, it would nice to have a place where VIP's could stay right on main campus during their visit to enhance the experience.
What class is he? Isn't he a senior? He's running out of time to pick a school.

Yes, yes, yes & yes.

I think there used to be a house across the street from U-Hall that was owned by UT and used for private parties and was tentatively going to be refurbished as a guest house, but that was back in the mid-80s and I don't know if the house even exists anymore.

Years ago, I was a finalist for a position with the University of Charleston (WV, not SC) and they put me up for a couple days in an old Victorian-style home that was on campus. Very classy!
Great to have them here to visit. Not gonna hold my breath, though.

Libby Hall would make a nice little place to put some guest rooms. Do they have anything in there anymore other than functionaries? I used to like going there to get lunch, felt real classy.

My Alma Mater has a fairly large hotel as part of the Student Union. It's pretty classy too. But we had a Hotel and Restaurant Management degree so it was a good fit to have guest rooms as part of campus. Still, some prefer regular hotels. UT fans will have plenty access on Secor soon, right?

Maybe when UT does the Student Union remodel, something to keep in mind. Either that or the Rocket Hall remodel, should they decide to make that an alumni center.

There is a hotel on the Health Science campus. Too much going on at Libbey Hall.

Ohhh...I like the Rocket Hall idea for a guest lodge or two! Convenient to some good eating at Social/Gradkowskis, the bookstore is right there, on the edge of campus...
At one point in time there was some talk of putting a new alumni center/convention meeting space facility with rooms on that circular piece of ground across from Driscoll, bordered by Douglas and Univ. Hills Blvd. Most recently they talked about a new alumni center over by rocket hall that had meeting space but not overnight rooms, but I think that talk as disappeared. Unless it's in the upcoming master plan.

The people talking about the Master Plan said that Rocket Hall was not on the agenda.
I was able to get a picture with Ken in the Grogan Room after the Kent game. He talked to everyone that went up to him. Very friendly, happy to be in Toledo.
Might have a real shot. His dad will be an asset in finding a school that fits him and his development as a player. Coach K can easily point to Taylor, Fletcher and Jackson as blue chip recruits who realized they could develop better and enjoy their college basketball experience more at a good mid major like UT than an average power conf school with constant classes of the next best thing. Jacob could come to UT and be a fan favorite from the get go. He knows he will get playing time as he learns, puts on weight and grows into his game at the college level. At a place like Utah or Texas there's the potential of being stuck behind a higher recruit, of struggling in an aspect of the game and ending up on the bench. And UT graduates 2 of their 3 big guys this year and doesn't have a true big in the incoming class. You could say the stars are in alignment for Jacob and the Rockets but there's some real good schools on his list so it will be tough. Most unsigned guys now are planning to decide in March or early April. Next year's team will be stacked at guard and small forward. Just need a big to pair with Knapke.
Quote:Ken, too, said the Rockets are right in the mix. It might even be more than his heart talking. He wants the best fit for his son, not necessarily the brightest lights.

Unfortunately, the bright lights tend to get the win.
He would look good along side Knapke. I stood beside him he is legit. Can you imagine if he has the moves of his dad... oh boy.

With what seems to be a stellar class next year he might consider UT.
Why doesn't Ken Epperson get his name up in the rafters like Steve Mix? He is leading scorer and rebounder in school history. If that is not good enough, what does it take? Steve had a great pro career but that should not be the factor that determines who gets such an honor.

Epperson is UT's all-time leader in points (2,016); rebounds (960), career field goals (786) and career field goals attempted (1415) and is third in field goal percentage (.555).

He should have his jersey retired by now.

How do we accomplish this?

I was thinking these same things after they introduced Ken on the court during the game. I mean, we announce that he's the men's leading scorer and rebounder, and we're trying to recruit his kid, and we haven't hung his jersey in the rafters yet. Bizarre.
