Thoughts after this let down?
Funny you psst that. I was coming on to post the same thing. A change is needed at this point. Gill has been given plenty of time to get this program into good shape and just hasn't been able to do so. Look at Chadwell. That dude can flat out coach. CSU has far worse facilities than most of the local high schools here in the Cincinnati area where I live, but he's recruited well and coaches those guys up. Gill is a good man, but it's time for a change.

I hope an FBS school hires Gill away so Liberty can save some face. He is a great person and he represents the school well but we have plateaued and aren't getting better. We are an average team in a below average conference and that isn't good enough. With our resources, we should be first annually. With Coastal Carolina gone, we probably have a yearly attendance that out-performs the combination of the rest of the conference. We claim to be FBS ready but can't win the Big South. It is time for a change.

I am thankful for what Turner Gill has accomplished at Liberty and I wish him nothing but the best.
No, he's not going anywhere unless it's his choice.

He still runs a clean winning program. Unless he gets in trouble or has multiple losing records he's safe.
Toman had winning record after winning record and he was given the boot. Gill makes over $600,000 a year. Do you think we're getting a good return on investment? Chadwell makes $120,000. Let that sink in for a minute.

Gil was suspended for a game this season for improper recruiting violation on his staff. I would consider any suspension of the head coach getting in trouble.
I think Gill is limited on who he can recruit given LU's good but low academic ranking and school mission. The mission isn't going to change but what can change is for the administration to make LU more attractive by focusing on raising LU's academic ranking. I'm not saying this is all we need to do but it would make LU more attractive and help.

And let's not forget CSU or any other school in our conference doesn't have the Falwell Sr and Jr baggage we have been gifted with. That's a big difference just right there.

But most of the rest of the conference is comprised of poor, religious schools. We just happen to be a rich, religious school. How many of the other schools are higher than us academically? I don't think there is much difference between us (football) schools. Of non-football schools, I think Radford is highly rated, but other than them, I am not positive if any are significantly higher.

Winning is a little subjective. We finish with more wins than losses, but it sure doesn't feel like we are "winning," at least not to me.

We've now been passed by Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern on Gill's watch. Coach Rocco was let go, fired, quit, whatever and he won outright Big South Conference championships before the auto-bid was awarded and finished the season ranked almost yearly. Former men's basketball coach Dale Layer is a relevant comparison to Turner Gill.

Presbyterian College is much more academically elite than Liberty. Not trying to be a basher but that is by far the best academic institution in the Big South.

Honestly why not try and lure Chadwell away with that amount of money? I think it would be a logical move with salary and facilities gap that Liberty and CSU have.

I forgot to add High Point to the list.

But PC puts very little of anything into FB.

The difference is they are all pretty poor and lack the money to pour into FB. If PC had the money we have and still retained their ranking they would be exploding with talent after they built top notch facilities.

Education administration
I'm not sure Chadwell would abide by the 'liberty way". I read the coaching staff was letting some f bombs fly yesterday.

That's not quite true. An assistant coach admitted to a player contact Twitter infraction. Gill was required to serve a one game suspension, at his choice. He chose the Coastal game.
