So... what's your opinion of the football violation reported by LU football? I guess Coach Gill self reported that Coach Ron Brown texted a scholarship offer to a prospective athlete the day before scholarship offers could be mailed. Apparantly Coach Brown didn't realize a text was considered a violation. The self discipline they are instituting is a one game suspension for both coaches... not the same game.
I'd much rather us be proactive and potentially over-do it in a self discipline than have the NCAA come in and punish us. I like what we did here.
It is best to voluntary report rather than to wait and respond when charged. An oversight that I am sure he will remember in the future and not make again. Sometimes the unexpected action of the HC being removed from a game can inspire the team to play harder. I'm guessing that is the case.
I think they implemented the standard penalty for a low level rules violation like that according to NCAA. I think it was an honest mistake that was responded to quickly and fairly. There really should be no more to the story.
Interesting report in today's News&Advance stating that Gill is expected to serve his one suspension in the Coastal game. The report stated that Gill can choose the game he wants for the improper tweet. Also, that Gill was expected to choose the Coastal game as an example for the team to display the importance of the Presby and ChuckSouth conference games and hopeful wins for the auto bid. Now if LU did win out and played Coastal and won, that would gain the Flames the auto bid and some notoriety with a Chants defeat.

I'd rather him sit out against Presbyterian. It looks like our last "automatic" game if there is such a thing. Thanks for the update!
