The University of Houston baseball team split the season series with College Baseball America No. 15 Baylor after getting 10 hits with four going for extra bases in the 9-3 victory on Tuesday at Baylor Ballpark.

Junior right-hander Kevin Roberts (3-1) struck out six and allowed only two Bears to cross the plate in six innings of work to help avenge an 8-6 loss to the Bears on Feb. 11 at the Minute Maid Classic.

Roberts struck out at least one batter in each of the first three innings and allowed only two runners to get past second base in his second straight decision.

Houston (13-16) scored early and often with five runs coming in the first two-and-a-half innings and eventually pounded out 10 hits in the game.

Freshman outfielder Kori Williams went three-for-four with a run, RBI and two doubles to lead the Cougar offensive attack. Junior catcher Brett Logan chipped in two hits and a RBI, while Brad Lincoln extended his hitting streak to a career-best seven straight games after batting one-for-four with two runs and a pair of RBIs.

The seven run margin of victory by the Cougars against Baylor was the largest since taking a 13-2 win April 18, 2000.

The Cougars knocked Baylor starter Andy Pape in 2.1 innings after he allowed five runs off four hits while on the mound.

In the second inning, Dustin Kingsbury led off with a walk and advanced to third base when Williams doubled down the left field line. Two batters later, Bryan Pounds slapped a single up to center field to score both runners and give Houston a 2-0 advantage.

In the Cougars' next at bat, UH put up three more runs for a 5-0 lead after a pair of hits. Two straight walks put Travis Tully and Lincoln on. Kingsbury smacked a single into right field to score Tully and Williams followed with another double into left field to score Lincoln, and Logan's groundout let Kingsbury cross home base from third.

A two-run dink by Josh Ford put Baylor on the board at 5-2 in the third, but two innings later, the Cougars got back the five run lead after Lincoln hit a two run shot over the right field wall for the 7-2 advantage.

The Cougars added another run in the seventh inning after Kingsbury was hit by a pitch, and Williams and Logan hit back-to-back singles to load the bases; Pounds forced a one-out walk to give UH a 9-2 lead.

Baylor put their last run across the board in the bottom of the ninth after Kevin Sevigny's sacrifice fly for the 9-3 final.

The Cougars head back into Conference USA play this weekend as they play host to league rival Louisville in a three-game series at Cougar Field. That series begins with 7 p.m. games on both Friday and Saturday.

Way to go baseball team. Hopefully we can salvage the rest of the season and get to an NCAA regional.
