Anyone think UAB can grab 6th man of the year for the third straight year with Deion Lavender?

Deion might end up in the starting lineup if he lives up to the way Ehsan and others talk about him. Maybe newcomer of the year?

Need consistent offense and good overall play from bench and Lavender, as those before him, may fit this perfectly...
Whatever we do, please play Baxter less. If it's Lavender or JD I don't care.

By all accounts I've seen, Baxter is the leader of the team.
Don't know why there has always been dislike of Baxter. He is a great defender and a leader. Not every player on the court needs to be able to score 20 points.
You know Baxter has been a key part of winning at UAB and Baxter is the best athlete on the team in my opinion a mature glue guy who understand the system and level of competition.
Baxter defended most of the guards in CUSA and was successful in guarding them, I am not going to say, Lavender may not be better eventually, but on day one its is going to be Baxter and lets hope lavender is up to giving rest to Baxter and Williams as the season progress.
Yeah, Baxter has been the best defensive guard we've had over the last 2 yrs. The only guard that can keep up in one on one or full court press.
Baxter is a very good college basketball player we are fortunate to have had him for THREE YEARS..and to hjave been a productive player, one that according to our Coaches, placed his scoring potential on hold to defend, that is the definition of team player.

I remember wondering about that a good while ago, too. I just guessed it boiled down to the combination of his contributions not showing up big in the stat sheet and not playing aesthetically pleasing basketball, to say the least.

It is what it is, though. He's an important facet of the team.
Agree. He gets it done. Has and needs to maintain confidence in his offense.
Baxter for CUSA all defensive team!
