Well some guys got their weekends freed up
Also looks like VanGorter out at ND. IMO this is too bad for the game to start the firing at so early in the season

He must keep that nameplate in his top desk drawer at all times.
I was at the Auburn LSU game last night. It was a sad excuse for college offense on both sides.

I was surprised when he got the ND job after his last couple of stops...
Not a fan of firings during the season unless the coach does something really bad.
VsnGorter's defense had given up 500 yards twice already and then 498 to Duke yesterday.

He was previously axed at Auburn too I think when Chizik was there.
& he sucked with the Falcons.

I agree. Miles should have never been retained. After what they did to him last year I have to wonder how much he really cared. I sure wouldn't have at that point.
ABC/ESPN and CBS are probably all chopping at the bit to sign Miles as a commentator.
If i were the LSU AD, Peyton Manning would be at the top of my list.

To coach?

Why not?

Now, I don't necessarily see Peyton going into coaching, but from everything I've heard of the way he prepared for games, I think he's got a coaching mindset.

I'd see him as a hands on type front office guy in the NFL though before I'd ever think he'd be on the sidelines somewhere.
All three Manning boys grew up in a football rich environment under their father. I suspect that even Olivia Manning could serve as an AD at some schools. I figure Peyton would be a good "Xs and Os" coach, and I would not want to recruit against him and his present football reputation.
I would suspect LSU will go after Tom Herman from Houston at the end of the season. I don't see Jimbo leaving FSU, Little Nicky leaving T-Town, Sumlin leaving A&M, Tubbie leaving Cincy, or Petrino changing motor cycles any time soon.

Absolutely. Nobody spent more time breaking down film than Peyton. He had a New Orleans upbringing and like BnBfan said, I wouldn't want to recruit against him.

I don't think anybody who is at the top of their game as a player would make a good coach. Larry bird is probably the closest example who had mild success. Gretzky failed pretty miserably. I think these guys are so good at their craft that they partly can accept people not being able to do what they did. Manning is a brilliant football mind, but I think he belongs in a front office like Elway. It's hard to see manning failing at anything though so who knows.
