Where to start? The linebacker who has three felony sexual assault charges? The top freshman OL who just left the team and went home to Georgia (and is rumored to have punched Helton in the face)? The OT who got ejected after scuffling with an official? The eight men who were sent out to defend a field goal? Its not a good look, not at all.

The team is in sixth place at 1-2. He was an interim coach who got the job - but he got it from Pat Haden, the previous AD. He's not current AD Lynn Swann's hire.

Might be a very short tenure there for him.
USC is a private school in an era where such schools are facing severe financial problems across the nation in trying to remain competitive with hundred million dollar public school programs. According to a couple BT posters, their facilities have not kept pace with other major FBS programs with which they must compete so their present record may just be a sign of their times.

Look at what is happening this season to Northwestern, Vandy, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa, Wake Forest, Miami and others like them. Even TCU, Baylor and Duke are struggling to remain relevant.

We could use a good offensive tackle. 03-idea
E.J. Price was a Top Ten OL recruit. We could certainly use him, but I kind of doubt we get a visit.

All this on top of some of the most inexplicable play calling I've watched.
He said that he knew that he only had eight guys defending the FG but that he didn't want to waste a time out. Wow.

How is that that not primed for an audible and a fake ?

In their big game to start the season, the UAT secondary was confused and yelling at each other after a blatant pass interference penalty that resulted in USC's biggest gain of the day. And it was still a 3-0 ballgame. Helton ran the ball the next 3 consecutive plays into the best Dline money can buy in college football. 03-lmfao Saban rallied the troops and fixed his secondary and the rout was on from there out.

Sounds like he would like to join the family. I can't underestimate Clark.
It didn't get any better for Helton & USC tonight as they lost by 4 pts # Utah.
Helton should've never been hired to start with.
I'm certain the USC faithful agree. He'll be getting four more years bought out though.

yep
"Instability" is an onerous label for any program and USC is no exception. They have been going through coaches like ducks in a shooting gallery in this past decade. How many times will it take for them to exhaust their credibility among top prospective coaches? Is Helton a sign that they already must settle for less?
