This opens up 4 new states in the Central & Mountain time-zones, each with the flagship/land-grant university that the PAC 12 prefers.

If the PAC was going to follow suit and expand to 14 right now, I think it would be UNLV and New Mexico. At that point you have locked up the west and built your land bridge to the true prize. The Texahoma 4

Add BYU and Air Force. Utah and Colorado get travel partners. The academics at these schools fit the Pac 12 (14) mold. The western footprint gets solidified. The conference adds national brands for Mormon and military following.
