Golden Flake has been a big donor and supporter of UAB athletics for years. Hopefully this acquisition doesn't result in lost money to UAB or jobs in Bham.
The product production jobs are not likely to be at risk as much as some management jobs the Penn. company may feel are duplicated in their own organization. Those are also likely the higher paid jobs as well.

The decades (since 1960s) old goodwill built up by the company through support of state university athletics is a real cash value the new company will probably want to maintain. The amount of financial support will be determined by the new company's bean counters.

Golden Flake will be just fine. Used to work there and still in touch with employees there.
They are UAB's first ever sponsor. No changes will be made.

Strangely confident considering you have no insight or apparent connections to Utz Quality Foods. Almost every company acquisition begins with keeping the original management/structure in place...only Utz can know how long its planned to be that way. I don't see any reason for panic...but I also don't see any reason for speculating the other way either.
Utz says things won't change for Golden Flake sponsorships:

No one could guarantee that nothing would change even if Golden Flake remained an independent company. They say nothing will change, but that just means for now. Basically nothing has changed because things can always change.

My experiences has taught me two things when a company is bought:

1. The first thing the buying company tells you is, "We're not going to change a thing."

2. The statement mentioned in #1 is a damn lie.
The folks who run Utz are good people. It's a long-time family company, like Golden Flake.
I think it is similar to the Deans Foods purchase of Barber's a few years back.

Yep, a lot could change but if they change too much they lose the market.
