Whitmer High product and projected starting DT Marquise Moore, along with projected starting LB Jaylen Coleman and reserve LB Anthony Davis will miss the first two games of the 2016 season.
See, that's too close to campus. Should have gone to Platinum Showgirls.

or, is that not what this is about?

Hesitant to extend one person's punishment to another but if this is going to be a trend, boot their azz. Show some institutional fortitude. Of course, I suppose I could find out what they did first then but them out. lol.

I suppose there's sense in suspending the first two games but I would boot them from the 1st, the 3rd and post season. Letting them go to Provo is a reward.

Can't believe this has happened to our program for two straight years. Coleman was supposed to be a leader of this team. His NFL chances will significantly drop due to this.

I would have thought that after missing so much of last season (that started out so spectacular for him before he was shut down by injury) that of all the players Coleman would doing absolutely everything in his power to have a super senior year and maybe get a shot at the NFL draft. Unfortunately a lot of people (and not just 20 year old athletics) have a problem keep focused and "keeping an eye on the prize" while tuning out and avoiding all those temporary distractions always going on around them.
Violating "athletic dept. rules." What's that? What isn't it? It doesn't sound like a campus violation, a local law violation, a federal law violation (looking at you manny).... My guess is a twitter violation or they said something bad about those two-tone helmets.
Best wishes to the back ups who will take their places. Maybe they'll win a starting role.
When I saw the headline (Deja Vu..) I thought it had something to do with the recent bust at the strip club.....

Agree

So you're saying there's a new bust at the strip club?
They couldn't even get through June? This might be a new record.

Knuckleheads.
Maybe they need a knock upside the head with those new helmets. My gawd!
This could be as trivial as being late to meetings or class. I'll reserve my judgement. They've broken no laws and their lives are already highly regimented. I trust that coach has handled their discipline appropriately.
I think we might be going a little heavy on the length of the suspensions in comparison to other schools. I dont even know what happened but I bet it would be one game at OSU.

One game? Nah - they would get an extra meal.

2 games for being late to a meeting or class is a bit excessive.... Probably smoking weed which tends to be a problem for all athletes nowadays.

If that were the case, wouldn't it be a minor misdemeanor with $150 fine?
I would assume only a team violation would be just that. Otherwise staff might be risking some problems.

They are being suspended for breaking "team rules". That doesn't neccisarily have to line up with what the punishment would be for the average citizen.

That's my guess as well...couldn't put down the pipe.
