Coach Callaway is now at USC. Their line last year set a USC bad record of 38 sacks allowed. Spring training Calloway is credited with adding discipline and a purpose to the very talented group with his "old school" ways.(per LA times on radio)

IMHO he was over his head at UAB. But maybe he has reversed Peter principled back down to where he belongs,

He was always nice in person to me. Unlike his actually worse immediate successor. I guess enough time has passed that I wish him well
I get a big chuckle when I think about that guy living in Los Angeles. I wonder how he likes it.
If you'd had given me the option towards the end of McGee's last season...I would have taken 5 more years of Callaway over 1 more year of McGee.

I say this as the former domain owner for FireNeilCallaway.com.
UAB fans main issue with Callaway was how he was hired. It really had nothing to do with him as a person.
callaway was extremely close to turning the corner with all the odds stacked against him..give him some credit..

If not for absolutely awful defenses during both the previous two head coaching regimes...
He's always been a very good oline coach

Agreed. Had he been hired in a decent manner, then the only problem we would've had was the win/loss record.
Callaway is an SEC caliber OLine coach. Georgia had made him OC, and he failed. He was demoted in midseason, and Richt and Mike Bobo split the OC duties. That off season, after he had failed as an OC, he was hired as UAB's HC.

He's a good guy who did some good things for the program. He just got handed the brown end of the stick and left to twist in the wind. I have no ill wishes for the guy at all.
