The passenger with Greg says he doesn't know who shot them. He gives some details in this article.

This is a sickening event.
Thought of what to say for days know, about this (Mr. Greg Bryant). I'm really, really, mad like never before. I can say this, spit is coming out of my mouth with this senseless (sissy) action by so called jealousy. (When I heard of this I said words I have never said before and I hope I never say again) This guy worked hard to be a part of the return and his return and was going to be good and great. He was taken care of by his family and was going to be the one that got them back. Sounds like he was raised by his Uncle and friends when one gets out they we all get out. It took 20 years to raise this man and a night to take him. All I can say is this man was supose to be great by his family. Would of loved to see him play a game for the green. For the next one that decides a sissy move you better be ready for a move in reaction. Every time I hear of a Blazer Football Game I will know and forever inside think and say Go Green for Mr. Bryant. I did not need this to cheer but know I cheer even louder. All Respect to the School that gave him a chance for a returnal. Thats right a return.
What do you mean by jealousy?

I'm assuming this...

There's more to this story, and it isn't jealousy. The passenger knows more than he is saying. I'd be willing to bet that he was the intended target, not Bryant, and he probably knows who the shooter was and why the shooting happened. I'm interested to know from which side of the car the shots came. If they came from the right, that will speak volumes. Greg Bryant was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person.
Smells that way to me too.

I feel the same way.
So were thinking this wasn't random? Which is what I said in another thread and got blasted for
When one of you Sherlocks solves the mystery, please inform the authorities.

Agree 100%.

Speculating that his friend is lying when the guy is mourning is pure lack of class.
So, changling the tone... Does Bryant becomes the most highly touted signee to never play in a game/match for UAB? If not then who?

You got blasted for saying Greg likely wasn't an innocent bystander, which may or may not be true, but until you have some evidence or facts about it, suggesting it is disrespectful.

He is dead. Let him be innocent until shown otherwise.
By saying this event was not random doesn't imply that Greg or his buddy did anything that would warrant being shot at. I don't want to speculate on what may have occurred because no one outside of those involved and the police have any idea, but to think that some random person from the club followed Greg and his buddy down I-95 and shot up their car due to jealousy is nearly as unbelievable as the Bible scenarios that was proposed above. Greg or his buddy was targeted for some reason, however minor it may have been.

To answer your question, on what I meant by jealousy, is that this guy left Miami right and went to play and have a better life and left those guys behind. So they sought him and desired him. They play a different game then football. Eeither way they wanted this guy. He's living the dream and their dope. To answer your question. In the explanation at hand this is all based on non facts and on whats been written. Who knows the real story. Do You! Hope I answered your question. I've read what has been written before I expressed an opionion. the post was based on what has been written not from known facts which I don't have other then what was wrote about the situation. It is opionion based which by the liberty of the Country I live in I am entitled to express for you.

other wise it was just a non happen of random miscue that was not meant for anything and it just happend to be him sitting in the wrong seat/./ so by what has been written by (the post/boards/ and news boards(papers)) what I have read it was targeted or random either way the result was the same, we lost a Great Player which is not every day a College like UAB gets a 5 star running back and who knows if we ever will again, right the cards happened to line up right for Greg to play for a Coach like Mr. Clark who cares and produces/ football related good thing we have some talent from K-State(GA)/ Life related we can never replace what was lost.

its Florida. a redneck shot up a car full of teenagers a few years ago because he didn't like the music they were playing
Random shootings are not an uncommon thing in South Florida. It might have been someone who knew him, it might have been about his friend, it might have been about nothing at all. We don't know. Speculating about it when the young man is barely in the ground is disrespectful. The coaches and his teammates thought well of him. He was trying hard to make the best of a new start. That is the best way to remember him, to respect his memory.

That's something most people say about Birmingham. I'd think about that before I'd say anything like that about another area.

Birmingham actually leads Miami significantly in nearly every crime statistic per capita...and does so on a yearly basis.

Its no secret that municipalities of the Birmingham Metro area all have and keep sacred their own little "fiefdoms". This applies to crimes statistics, as well. The Birmingham numbers include Birmingham only while most other "cities" include the metropolitan area which would consider the extremely low crime of the more affluent communities. The Birmingham area does not combine their crime statistics. So, for Birmingham, low crime areas of Mountain Brook, Vestavia, Hoover, Hueytown, Homewood, etc are not factored in. The Miami numbers probably also include Miami Beach, West Palm Beach, and other similar communities of the metropolitan area. The positive side of Miami you see on TV is normally one of those communities...

Also,

"Contrary to popular opinion, the City of Birmingham as a whole is not dangerous. Research shows violence concentrated in “micro” places, rather than in “dangerous neighborhoods.” Blocks, corners, and buildings representing just five or six percent of an entire city will drive half of its serious crime. The good news is that these concentrations create high-payoff opportunities to intervene."

As someone who has had occasion to pour through stats annually for a yearly report, I realized these facts many years ago. That's not to say Birmingham doesn't have its issues, especially over the last couple of years, and it could be that Birmingham crime is comparable to Miami crime, but...
