We certainly need better guard play.
If it is true, then I'd like to believe that at least one of the 3 point guards who have recently committed will actually be signing their letter of intent with us.

Coach K always said he didn't like to sign JC players. Must be feeling some pressure.
Well we're 50-50 on players from Spain.
His stat sheet is depressing. Started seven games of 30, 5 points, 2 assists 27% from 3. But there is this:

Well they do play soccer in Spain.

Those stats seem to be from the previous season. He was 2nd team all region this past year ... not sure how big a region is in JUCO ball. There are no season stats on the NIC website but just glancing through some of the game summary stories, and he had double digit scoring in the 1st two stories I read.

Also NIC was undefeated in the regular season, and finished 31-2

Those stats were from his freshman year. Regions in JUCO ball usually cover a number of states. Still....

Heck, in basketball what's the big advantage to signing freshmen when they're only going to hang out a year or two and transfer anyway? Coach may have decided if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

The offer is on Verbal commits but they do not have him listed as committed. My guess is Coach K feels they have a real shot at winning next year but he felt he needed better point guard play and 1 more outside shooter Lucas is listed as a shooting guard not a point guard. Looking the Northern Idaho schedule on their website they were 31-2. Upset in the second round of the NJCAA tournament. No stats on the Website that I could find. I will keep looking for a while.

Found his stats started 30 of 32 games. 8.3 PPG 42% from the field 32% from 3 point range 87% from the line averaged 23 minutes pt a game. Not overly impressive. There is another player on this team from Columbia named Brian-Angelo Rodas who averaged 21.2 points a game he went to the same prep school as Lucas I could think this might be a package deal if they weren't out of scholarships. but for the most part his offers on verbal commits are from mostly school from higher rated conferences than the MAC so that is not likely.
I wondered if those stats were dated but this year's aren't appreciably better.

Have to agree. TK is certainly taking some gambles with his recruiting but maybe it's the best he can get? Last year's class only really had 2 contributors out of 5 who dressed. The incoming class as it stands has 2 JUCO guards whose stats are solid but not exactly "lights out", an incoming freshman point guard who appears to have been one of the better players in Kansas, and another incoming freshman 6'4" swing player who didn't even average 10 points a game and really has me scratching my head (yes he was on a loaded team but still...is he a true D-1 player?). There's a whole lot riding on this incoming class, returnees getting considerably better, and Knapke being the real deal after his redshirt year. I know this much--I wouldn't want to trade places with TK. Hope karma is finally nice to him these next couple seasons. He deserves it.

Actually he didn't average 5 points per game.

After seeing Detroit fire Ray McCallom, who actually did once get to the NCAA's, coach K has to know he has a year or two to really get better. BTW, Detroit beat us 3 of the last 4 years.

O'Brien doesn't seem to like doing coaching searches...I'm pretty sure TK is fine thru his current contract. If he wants any additional extensions and more personal assurance though, then yep, these next couple seasons will be important.

The Rockets almost won that game on a buzzer shot by Jalen and they were jobbed by the refs I was there.
well, the positives (which don't include video quality) are

- sees the floor
- likes to pass
- seems to have some personality and flair for the fancy play
- good height
- played at a high level juco so should be fairly ready for D1

who knows about
- if he can shoot, form is ok
- if he can rebound
- how well he plays on man and team defense (he seems like a clever open court defender)

and will say his was the first highlight video i've seen that featured several floor burn plays

He can shoot Free throws at least 87% from the line. I know that is not the same thing as shooting while guarded but it is an indicator that he should at least be an above average shooter. 1 thing about is PPG to be fair it could be the kid who average 21 a game monopolized the ball which could have kept is PPG down.
If he sees the floor all the time as well as he does o
In his highlight reel, he'll be fine, scoring or not
