Sue Samuels is leaving UAB to take a private K-12 gig in Huntsville. Gene Fambrough will serve as interim band director until a new one can be found.
She put a helluva band on the field and her students loved her.
She will definitely be missed. As a music educator, she has been a tremendous asset for this university and the band program.
Well, crap. I hate to hear that. Best of luck to her.

Seems like a step down? Or does Randolph pay more than UAB? Strange move...
Randolph is a great school in Huntsville. My wife went there prior to going to Huntsville High. Not sure about the pay. Maybe she has family or connections to the Rocket City?

Based off of her FB post, I believe there was a family angle to this. If I remember correctly, her child was going to be able to attend Randolph which was important to her.

Exactly. Even when the vindictive little pumpkin-headed bastard doesn't directly destroy careers, his presence sure makes it easier to listen to other offers.
UAB has lost a LOT of good people during his reign of error. It will take a decade or more for the new president to just get UAB back to pre-Ray levels.
