Class of 2016?

If I'm correct, this young man's dad is an assistant coach at Kansas. I think (but am not 100% certain) that he is only a junior in high school this year? If so, I would expect that recruiting will likely take off for him after this season unless he feels completely comfortable with one of his early choices.

Yes, he's a senior this year.

Not much on him, but it looks like he can score. He's only 5'9", but smaller guards have had success at UT in the past.

Yes, his dad is Norm Roberts, the former head coach of the St. John's Red Storm of the Big East and current Kansas assistant for Bill Self.
How'd he get on our radar?
He's 5'9" that's how.
Not following. There's plenty of 5'9" pgs and plenty of pgs between here and Kansas. I doubt our recruiting talons covered all that ground so how'd he come to out coaches' attention?
We had that other short Kansas kid. Never played but transferred out and had a nice career. Can't recall all the details. Also we had the 6'4" PF, 3 point specialist from Kansas or Mo. God, I hate old age-can't remember squat but he was in K's first recruiting class, then transferred back home. Got tons of boards for a 6'4" guy. I know someone will fill in names. Anyway, we've had recruits from that area before. Guy's name was Reece .....
Reece... Holiday. I always liked him.
Ah, coach has connections there?

Yes! Tough kid. Not real athletic or skilled but became a real force. Really glad I didn't go with "Witherspoon". Can't recall the other guy who transferred to Mississippi, maybe? Point guard. May have been a Cross recruit. Had a very nice career, averaged double figures I think.

Neal Watson? Think he ended up at Southern Miss and had a good season or two there.
must be good if we are making a push for him and he's only 5-9. the roster is pretty set so no need to fill a spot with whoever.
ok, watched his video, short stocky scorer. plays low to the ground, quick with ball and without, not a leaper, good shooter with really deep range. who knows on his defense and personality - it was a highlight video, but as a coach's son he probably has a good feel for the game and fundamentals.

fyi there is another highly rated justin roberts from indiana who is a hs jr pg, easy to mix the 2 up

Thank you. I did come up w Watson but couldn't get the first name.
Roberts has tweeted that he has committed to UT.

Biggest Connection was his former assistant coach whose name escapes me at the moment
So with the two PG commitments, we will have three on the roster next season and four in 2017. And since all except Mosely are "small", they couldn't transition to the 2G spot. Most teams have two point guards on the roster and maybe a combo kid like Sanford. Seems strange.

Does this mean that coach K is very unhappy with freshman Nick Rogers?
Nick Rogers will never be an offensive threat for UT. I do not see him ever starting at PG at UT. I believe Coach K is well advised to pursue additional PG's. He is done for now.
Next year we will sign a PG, a ctr. and a fwd.
