Who the hell does ODU think they are? They have done nothing to help the league in any sport, and for the beat writer to openly pine for another league? Give me a break.

Hypothetically speaking, if we finish the league season at 15-1 and lose the CUSA final, we still on the outside looking in?

one bid league
La Tech is the only team that has a chance at an at large and they wold have to lose no more than once or twice and make it to the CUSA final. Even then it would be close.
I am always amaze and perplex about ODU staffs givings recommendations about anything involving Cusa and UAB..
By example ..when UAB lost his program in football ODU make many comments about what to do or not what to do. Etc
Who they think they are. ..let me tell who they. .are ..they are nobody even in a nobody conference ...sad but true

One bid league. Tournament winner is the only one going.

I think if we went 15-1 and lost to *La Tech* after La Tech went 15-1 we'd get an at-large...

Or if all of a sudden all of our OOC opponents decide to go undefeated for the rest of the season.

Then you're dreaming. 21st ranked conferences in RPI do not get at-large bids, and that ranking isn't going to move much at all now that conference play is starting. Just look at the statistics when they talk about "tournament resumes" on TV. One category you'll never see is "wins vs RPI top 150"... Or 200... And that's pretty much all we have left except a road game at La Tech. Anyone in our garbage conference trying to build a tournament resume needs to have already done so... Before 1/1 every year.
the sad thing is this supposed to be Tech's rebuilding season w/ losing all those players from last season and Michael White to Florida

that sounds like Rice fans the other week saying how crappy CUSA is for their sports and how they would do so much better in MWC, but it's not like they are doing much for the league outside of baseball

Everyone knows that in college sports, it's baseball that drives the bus. Well, baseball and women's darts.
I don't get the hate for ODU here. First off, that's an article by someone who *covers* ODU. ODU isn't talking **** here. Second, he's not saying anything that multiple people on this board have not said, and he's posting the w/l records to back it up.

UAB scheduled some OOC chances to make an impression, and we pooped the bed on them. We lost at Auburn, a "good loss", but it still is found in the loss column. We fell on our faces at the Emerald Coast Classic. We beat NIU, GSU, and SFA at home, and those are nice wins but they are not P5 wins that turn people's heads. We've won the games we were supposed to have won, and that's nice - but that's all we've done.

As to how bad MBB is in C-USA, how often has that been beaten to death here? The bottom half of the conference makes it like swimming with a concrete block tied to your foot. Beat them on the road and your RPI still goes down, and god help you if you screw around and lose to one of them - and it happens, especially on the road. Do I need to remind you of FAU and FIU at the end of last season when Tosin Mehinti was out?

I don't see much here except the ODU beat reporter saying what we all know is true, and adding that the ODU fans wish they were in a better conference. How many times have we griped about the current version of CUSA, talked about how things would be better in the (fill in the conference name here) and how that would be a better fit?

Pot, kettle, black.
He's not wrong about anything he said. This league sucks this year.

We need the bottom half of the league to go out and hire better basketball coaches. Mike Davis would be a good choice for quite a few of our league mates
I thought you wanted them to get better.

I kid... kinda.

The NIT would be an amazing achievement with the current state of some of those programs.
"C-USA hoops, a conference of convenience that’s not very convenient. It’s a loosely-knit collection of the left out, the out-of-the way, the football-dislocated.".....well-put, I thought.

We beat SIU not NIU, but I agree with you. We have all complained about our conference.
