Michigan just took their DC. Without that defense, I don't see how BC will beat anybody in the conference.
BC really has a solid Head Coach.

I agree it is a loss for BC, but they have a very solid HC.

Um......kind of a ridiculous statement, no?

Pretty much the entire BC defense is back next year. Do you think they will suddenly forget how to play defense? It might have more of an impact longer term on recruiting - or, maybe not; depending on who they get to replace him.

BC's issues are more on the offense; and they got a big get for next year with the news that the Kentucky QB will be transferring to BC for his 5th year (he graduated from UK this month), and will be starting at BC in January.

Ridiculous? Maybe. Brown is one of the best DC's. What he did to turnaround your defense was outstanding. Part of my other concern for you is the fact the other teams around you are upgrading. Townes definitely should help improve the putrid offense, but if the defense falls off, you're not gaining anything.

I think BC will be solid as long as they have that head coach and with a servicable QB like the Kentucky transfer.

This UNC person thinks UNC will be a top program in the conference next year without the QB they had this year, but is predicting BC to suck b/c of a defensive coordinator leaving.
I thought that most of BC's problems on offense were due to season ending injuries to multiple offensive players. If that's the case, they should be back next season with some experience under their belts.
BC had a ton of bad luck on offense. I do agree that Addazio is a good coach. Hopefully he will find a good DC.

Clem, just for you....we will be good.
How long ago is it now that BC was NOT the doormat in the ACC?

And, by his logic, UNC should become the doormat of the Coastal Division because somebody took their OC.

2014 (BC was bowl eligible, Syracuse and Wake were not).

If not a doormat, how about a floormat?

Can Addazio run the defense? No. Well Fedora can run the offense. Not the same situation.
Can't BC just hire a good defensive coordinator??
4 winnable ooc games. From what I read, BC is going to go pro style in order to cater to Towles strengths. Can't have a worse offense then they had this year (literally) so they should be much improved on that side of the ball. Start off the season in Ireland against GT who is also looking to rebound from this year's woes. Doubt they will have the #1 D next year with the loss of their DC but if it ends up being top 25 they could go Bowling next year. That would be a win for Towles, a win for BC and a win for the ACC.

Good luck Eagles.

Too logical Terry!!05-nono

Zactly...fortunately it happened before the coaches' convention.

My guess is they promote from within and hire someone new. How many "fast burners" (AF lingo for fast rising golden boys) will want to tie themselves to Addazio and come in as a DC? Addazio could easily get fired after next season.
Dunno about promoting from within.

Honestly I would see if David Blackwell at Jacksonville State wants to get back in FBS. He was a LB Coach for ECU, Pitt, Clemson, and USF, and was co-dc for Jim Leavitt his final year. Since then he's been DC at Fordham and Jacksonville State and has fielded solid defenses every year.

Are BC fans considering Towles a "big get" mostly because any warm body at QB would be an improvement over BC's 2015 offense, or are they really expecting big things from him?

I ask because as UK's starter for most of 2014 and 2015, he threw 23 TD's with 23 picks. He was ultimately benched in favor of a younger QB that had even worse numbers.

When I heard Towles was going to be a grad transfer I was thinking he'd be a decent get for a G5 or top end FCS. I wasn't expecting him to land at a P5 but I suppose he is an upgrade over BC's 2015 production.

There are five year old corpses that would be an upgrade over BC's 2015 QB production.

The Matt Ryan year...BC was actually in the top 10 at some point, and battling Virginia Tech. Maybe it was '08?? '09??

I think they actually went to the ACC Championship but lost to VT

Agreed....the problem with conferences is that someone has to lose

Boston College is in a division with Clemson, FSU, and Louisville....Syracuse and NC State aren't easy outs either....

Next year they have an easier OOC schedule, so hopefully they can get bowl eligible and start trying to build a foundation of winning. The Atlantic Division Title will be an uphill battle though
