As much as we complain about the play calling (and I'm as guilty as anyone), that's some pretty elite company we're in especially considering some of the teams we've played...
...and currently at 6.06 this year per the NCAA statistics website.
Play calling that doesn't win the games that matter isn't going to get praise just because it racked up stats. No one says, the play calling got 1300 yds running. They say the player did that. Play calling probably just gets credited for recognized upsets.
The thing about coaching is.......it's a lot harder than people think. People will 2nd guess you and complain no matter what decision you make, or no matter what play calls you make. There might be a game or two that goes perfect and everyone is happy, but 80% of the time (or more) someone will find something to complain about. It's human nature to complain and expect perfection. It's also human nature to make mistakes, or at least perceived mistakes. We're all human.
