They made Austin Brown of Charleston Southern look bad, now they must do it again in their semifinal play off game.
Austin was concussed the week prior. 2/17 for 42 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT makes me think he was still feeling it. Other guy was 8/10.
Briscoe is a better QB than Brown. I have a ton of reasons to want JSU to win, but I would like to see Briscoe taste success while he's back in Alabama.
Brown looked like brown under Mcgee. He still cant read a defense. That's my biggest knock against him, Briscoe had the bigger upside and IMHO this game Saturday is between the two best teams in FCS. The winner will win it all IMHO unless they simply lay down in the Championship game.

Yeah but 2/17? He was never that bad here, and he had a good enough regular season that they sat him out against roll tide to save him for the playoffs. Is JSU's defense that complicated?

Earlier in the year, Briscoe wasn't the starter, but he was getting significant reps.
At least he didn't throw five interceptions in a game for them. :-(
I think the stats are more like 2 for 7. Brown was the QB on the 1st series that CSU kicked a field goal & didn't return.

The JSU announcers were wondering why he didn't return.
He got his bell rung pretty good and I wonder if that was why.

Brown's receivers were dropping passes left and right at the start of the game against JSU. Admittedly, the JSU defenders were locked down pretty well on the receivers.
True they dropped a couple balls. His problem is he locks in his primary and does not go through his progressions to find someone open. Defenses know this that scout him. That was his problem at UAB.

I would put my money on North Dakota State until someone proves they are better come playoff time. Obviously, the top program in FCS right now. I would love to see Jax State win it but it's hard to bet against North Dakota State.
ESPN told me Brown was 2/17. I thought that was a weird number, so you guys are probably right that it was more like 2/7.

Didn't a UAB player transfer to a North Dakota school - perhaps ND State?

Running back Ja'Won Arrington played at North Dakota. Only played in three games.

He played partly through the 2nd quarter up until when they kicked their first field goal.

None after that.
In the back corner of the Bearkat's website, I found the QB stats for Briscoe and that other guy, who I believe is a returning starter and redshirt senior.

Jared Johnson: 167 for 291 (57.4%) for 2206 yds, 18 TDs, 2 INTs
Jeremiah Briscoe: 122 for 204 (59.8%) for 1753 yds, 14 TDs, 4 INTs
I watched some of the NDS game. they are really good. I like the two that will be playing at JSU just a little better from what little ball I have seen this year.
