None planned right now, but it's been talk of UTEP and now Rice is in the picture. This can be a blessing or curse depending on if CUSA brings in more teams or leaves it as is.
Wichita St is talking about bringing back football. Mtn West can have UTEP... I'll take Wichita St.

The article says that Wichita State inquired with the Mountain West a few years ago, but nothing became of it.

I don't think Wichita State to CUSA has a snowball's chance of happening.

Losing Rice and UTEP would be big hits to CUSA. UTEP is one of the better overall programs in the conference. Rice has been improving in football and basketball and is excellent in baseball. Plus the academics.

Leaving CUSA's Texas connection to being North Texas and UTSA is not good at all.

Wichita wouldn't take CUSA.
I have to echo the sentiment that Wichita State likely wouldn't want anything to do with C-USA. Also, UTEP and Rice leaving the conference would hurt. There's no scenario where that's a good thing. Rice is a really good university, and UTEP, as mentioned above, is off from time to time but they usually have some nice programs.

The chances of them moving? Unlikely. The MWC isn't a bad conference or anything, but it's really lopsided in Boise State's favor. I'd understand if UTEP opted for it since most of the conference is so far away, but I feel like Rice can afford to be patient as long as they continue to make progress.
Losing UTEP would not be good. They are one of the consistently above average/good athletic program in CUSA. Losing Rice wouldn't be as bad from an athletics standpoint, but as mentioned they bring a lot of academic clout. Whoever we found to replace them would be a downgrade.
Reported earlier this week that Rice has had talks with MWC. Obvious choice, at this point, as 1st replacement is GaState...
I don't think Rice would go...they hated their time in the WAC...not sure they want to repeat it.

But, if those two were to leave, then it would be a good time to jetison North Texas and UTSA and pick up two eastern/southeastern replacements. Quality wise, such a move would be a wash and would significantly cut down on travel budgets.

This would be awesome!

With Banowsky gone, there is no reason to stay in Texas anymore.

Any chance UTEP and Rice will take North Texas and UTSA with them?? (we can always hope)

Dallas (actually Denton, I think) & San Antonio markets...
Wow, let's get rid of the dead weight. Good thing C-USA didn't dump us.

Hate to be a smart A05-stirthepot but has the CUSA ever made an upgrade? I honestly cannot think of one

Western Ky and MTSU were an upgrade over the two FL schools in both football and bball. We need a team from GA.
