I can't wait for actual movies again the next several years. Might as well have a thread for all this. Post away!

Only 2 weeks left 'til Episode VII.

[/video]
"Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" opens on December 18, 2015

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, director: Gareth Edwards opens on December 16, 2016
Star Wars VIII, director: Rian Johnson opens on on May 26, 2017
the untitled Han Solo movie opens on May 25th 2018, directors: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller
Star Wars IX, director: Colin Trevorrow opens 2019
there is rumored another untitled Boba Fett movie to be "released later"

My theory from what I think will happen based on old movies/new leaks:

*Mark Hamill wanted Luke to join the Dark Side in ROTJ. Lucas said no.
*Luke has a family history of having trouble letting the Dark Side cloud judgment.
*In ROTJ, Luke begins wearing all black and black glove for mechanical hand
*Luke uses "Force Choke" on Gamorian Guard in Jabba's Palace. (a Sith quality)

What we know for TFA:
*Kylo Ren in the leader in the "Knights of Ren"
*He is working with the New Order Stormtroopers
*Finn & Rey seem to know Han Solo somehow, and know the stories they heard growing up

What I think:
*In the days since ROTJ, Luke has taken Anakin's body with him for burial.
*He lives a life away from Han/Leia, etc.
*Kylo Ren will be Luke's son, a Skywalker.
*Rey is Han/Leia's Daughter, which they have had her tucked away growing up away from all the Empire/Rebellion.
*Finn is either just some stormtrooper, or, he could be son of Lando Calrissian.
*Luke convenes with Anakin/Yoda/Obi-Wan for years in his solidarity.
*He learns more about his father and wants to master more of the Force, leading him to want to try to grow his powers.
*Luke forms the "Knights of Ren" to act as the new order of Jedi Knights. He teaches his son Kylo the ways of the force and how to communicate with the dead.
*Luke, not being a complete Jedi Master, can't control his son's cloud of Judgment from the Dark Side. --OR-- they think that what they are doing with the Knights of Ren is what is best for the Galaxy, much like when the Jedi Order thought they knew best when overthrowing the Senate/Palpatine with Force. All this is clouded in the Dark Side. Kylo falls into the path of the Sith with his Grandfather's teachings.

I think the movie will revolve around Rey getting involved with her Mother and Father in search of her Uncle Luke and Cousin Kylo somewhere in the Galaxy to try to restore peace, and future movies will be about inner turmoil and bringing balance to The Force. (Which Luke thinks he is doing now asthe right thing).

My Spolier thought: Han Solo dies in TFA.
Next movie will have more Luke in it.

Just my thoughts.
I can see everything there being possibilities except when you started with Luke taking Anakin's body for burial. Anakin had a funeral pyre, so all that would be left would be ashes (actually, when you cremate someone, you get small pellets of mineral, mostly calcium I believe, left over. The 'ashes' thing is more of a Hollywood invention.)

I think the thing that lends some credence to what you are saying is that they have been extremely careful in not letting much of Luke be seen, and the word is the brief footage clips shown so far in the teaser trailers is from the first half of the movie. I agree the trouble Luke always had with following his teachers, as well as Anakin's, seems to be a family trait of the Skywalkers.

Also, I read somewhere that VII will be almost 136min (2.26 hrs long??) That sounds a bit much. Go to the bathroom BEFORE you step into that theater, and be careful of the large soda! ha ha!
For you Star Wars fans, I hope he doesn't mess up that franchise like he attempted to do with Star Trek. He totally got the second Trek film wrong and totally misused the Kahn character.
The books the movies will be based around make Luke a gray Jedi, neither dark nor light and drawing from both sides of the force to complete his tasks. Similar to what you speculate but more defined. And he's a badass in the books, too.

It's a different timeline. How do you get anything wrong? Different circumstances change the behavior and outcome of events and characters.
Haven't read any of this thread because I don't want the spoilers... just wanted to say that I have my tickets for December 17th 7 pm at the Imax in Nashville! Can't wait!
I'm waiting for the zombie outbreak and for Rick Grimes to show up and kill all Kilo Ren by biting his jugular.

yea I'm pumped for it. BTW Solo will die. Brace yourselves. Not joking.

I understand it's a different timeline but it doesn't change the fact his approach of the 2nd film and the use of Kahn was very ineffective and wrong.
I agree above. I believe Ren is either Luke himself or his offspring.

Yoda foreshadowed this when he said he could be turned by the dark side if he didn't return for his training. He never returned to complete his jedi training that we are aware unless that is revealed in 7.
His offspring

Han or Luke, would be my guess as well. I understand that one reason Han was frozen in carbonite in Empire was that, like Nimoy in Wrath of Khan, he wanted the character to be gone after Empire. George Lucas met him halfway with the carbonite freezing, then resurrected him in Jedi, as they did with Search for Spock (both were the third movies made in their series, though the numbering in SW is a bit off.)

Didn't Luke say in "Jedi" that he did in fact go back and complete his training and now was a full Jedi?

He did go back, but Yoda was dying. I dont think Luke "Finished" his training. Although Yoda did say "No more training do you need, a Jedi you are"

I think. Its been a while.
Here is the exact quote from IMDB

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)

Yoda: No more training do you require. Already know you, that which you need.
Luke: Then I am a Jedi.
Yoda: No. Not yet. One thing remains. Vader. You must confront Vader. Then, only then, a Jedi will you be. And confront him you will.

Technically Kahn is wrong in the second movie and the timeline should not have affected him. The timeline change started just after Kirk was born. Kahn, having been lived in the 1990's and then put on the Botany Bay in cryo-statis in the 2000s, will not have changed at all as the timeline only changed after he was born. Thus he should never have been English but should have been Mongolian as depicted in Space Seed (original Star Trek episode). So yes, J.J completely botched that up. Yes, i'm a geek.
Got my tickets. I'm seeing it Dec 18th.

BTW, if you don't want suffer through the prequals but want a recap there a several 2 to 3 hour movies on youtube that cut out all the bad parts. Just search "Star Wars I-III edit."
This is the week. I'm going to wait until after Christmas to see it.

Here's a teaser:
