Word in the coaching circles is Clark to Memphis by mid week.
He has certainly been mentioned as a potential choice.
Odom is their guy unless he gets the Mizzou job.
I guess I'm an idiot but who is Clark?

Right now, I don't think it's Odom up here. They keep talking about looking outside the Pinkel staff for the new coach. (they keep hinting at Brohm, but I don't think that's happening).

Odom is gone if Missouri doesn't make a decision soon, and I honestly think he goes back to Memphis if it happens.

That would suck for UAB. Hopefully he stays at least until they get thier team back on the field
You never know but my guess is Clark stays at UAB for 2 more years, minimum
Why would he want to take a step back, or at best make a lateral move, at this point in his career?

What?

UAB's program was nearly terminated and it has a history of losing football (JBH here) with bad facilities.

Memphis, while also having a losing history, is in a better conference and has enjoyed recent success. Not to mention better facilities and more money.

It would not be a step back or a lateral move. Let's be honest with each other.
Does Clark have a staff in place and on payroll at UAB now?

A large part of it.
This is the most ridiculous rumor in football coaching since Saban to Texas. Do you think that Clark would really turn down jobs before UAB reinstated the football program and when the return of the program was definitely not a done deal and more likely to never happen, just to take a job after he did the impossible and got the decision reversed? If Bill Clark coaches a season or two at UAB, he's going to have a building named after him.

If it were a BCS school, maybe, because money talks. But why would he make a lateral move and give up all the goodwill behind his name? Clark has built as much of a brand for himself as anyone, without really coaching a down of football.
UAB is far from being lateral to Memphis. Not bashing but let's get real here.
This thread is laughable. It's about to go the way of the smack board as a rumor meant to stir up trouble.

Dude. I enjoyed my time in CUSA with UAB. But lateral move? In what sense? It's an upgrade in terms of pay, conference affiliation, recent on-the-field success, fan support, etc. I'm not saying he'll take the gig if offered. But the Memphis job is clearly a step up.
I don't know what if any offers Clark got after the termination of the football program, but I'm sure he could have gotten a job somewhere if he had been interested.

All I know about Clark is he had a 6-6 season last year and is a good recruiter. I think if he was looking to leave he wouldn't have stuck around as he has. But, like with all these coaches you never know what they'll do.

It's all twitter and internet rumors so who knows if Memphis is even interested.

Coach leaves/best ever QB leaves
9-3
10-3
2-9
4-8
Coach fired
2-10
1-11
2-10

Sorry, that's not a good program, that's a good coach catching a good QB and then getting the heck out of dodge. No coach that has been there at least 5 seasons has left with a winning record since Billy Murphy retired 44 years ago. Fuentes is the first coach of any tenure leaving with a winning record since 1974.

Memphis is a historically awful football program.
