knowing I will take a lot of heat over this, I have to say that I think Candle is improving a lot from where he was last year and way ahead of 2 years ago. If he is a great recruiter - and from what we hear he is - and has steadily improved as OC, he could position himself for the head coach job - in about 5- 7 years. He still has a lot to prove as the OC and he had better have a solid game plan against WMU. We cannot afford to come out again on fire and then pi$$ the lead away with horrid play-calling. Run stuff until they can stop it, and keep the plan simple so we don't have guys constantly having false starts.
Oh - and get someone to teach our lineman how to hold like they do at BG and NIU without getting more than half of them called. Saw a lot of missed holding calls by NIU against Ohio tonight. But all in all, the calls evened out. Just wish we could get that in our house - just once when it matters.
JC is a good guy but he is not the likely to ever be the face of Toledo football.
If Candle is the HC, does that mean someone else is calling the plays??

Good point. Candle would hire a new offensive coordinator and would almost certainly let him run the offense and call the plays. Remember that being a good or being a bad coordinator does not necessarily have an impact on what kind of a head coach the person will be (except a bad coordinator is a lot less likely to move up to become a head coach).
Tom Amstutz was an excellent defensive coordinator yet as a head coach, Toledo had some of the worst defenses that I can remember.
One thing Candle is said to be very good at is recruiting and I assume that would not change were he to become head coach.
We have like the second best offense in the conference? Why do we hate the play calling? Could be way way worse. Even NIU's fans booed them against OU. Every team goes in stretches where play calling is questioned. We are the most balanced team in the country pretty much... If we go to the MACC... Candle deserves a lot of credit.
