That and the leveraging penalty are what really bother me. Two terrible calls/no call that affected the outcome of the game. I'm not saying NIU didn't deserve the win at the end the way they stayed in the game and got it done at the end. Toledo is capable of playing a much better game and NIU showed heart down the stretch. Those types of poor officiating really give you a bitter taste after the game.

This still has the makings of a great season for the Rockets. Their fate just isn't totally in their own hands anymore for the MACC.

Let's remember, these are kids out there playing. Everyone has a bad day sooner or later.

Two bad calls that I hope are pointed out to the MAC office. Bad calls are a liability in any game but the really good teams usually dominate most opponents to the point that bad calls are not a factor one way or the other in the outcome.

Not sure I know of two many really good teams that dominate every opponent they play. This isn't HS. These calls effected the outcome of this game. No question UT played horribly and didn't deserve to win. But sometimes you have to win ugly. And if these two calls are made the way they were supposed to be, UT most likely wins an ugly game which many good teams have to do every now and then.

I am not saying that those two calls didn't effect the outcome of the game, what I am saying is that they are only one of several factors that were collectively responsible for the loss.

These include:

1)As it has all year the offense made too many mistakes and executed poorly too much of the game

2) The defense (and special teams as well) which were so spectacular early on in the season have suddenly become much more pedestrian over the past couple of games and therefore are no longer compensating for the uneven play of the offense

3) The Rockets seemed to be catching the breaks in the early season but that was not the case last night. I consider costly officiating mistakes as bad breaks and unforced errors by the opponent to positive breaks.

If any one of those had not been a factor last night, the Rockets would have would have won; however, the convergence of all coming together in the same game against a worthy opponent was just to much to overcome. What I am saying is that if you take of what you can control (#1 & #2) then which you can not control (#3) will not be a factor. And yes I realize that sometimes teams "make their own breaks", but then sometimes they don't and those are the breaks that I am talking about here.
