If he's truly a national "darling" who is on anyone's short list, then I think it's best for he and UT that he just go. He can't win the game that matters. Continuing that trend season after season will not benefit the Rocket program or this fan base, and it won't benefit him personally. If he doesn't make a move soon--maybe even a decision before this season is over--he may be staring at some less stellar seasons down the road and miss his chance.

Thanks for keeping us at least relevant, Campbell, and for a couple bowl wins, and for beating BG (good luck doing do this season). But if you couldn't get a win at home against this Northern Illinois team...well, we need to find someone who can get the job done. It may not be fair, but it's really the bottom line.
Losing to NIU...it's apart of the "process"

And that "process" may still end up with a MACC, but it won't make this loss feel any better.
One of the most disappointed games I have ever been to. Looked disorganized and out coached with a backup qb
This season Campbell has done everything right at the half and come out strong in the 3rd quarter.
Was really hoping that was going to be Rockets version 2015 calling card. I think we had held opponents scoreless in the 3rd qtr all season

Just didn't happen tonight.

Ely floating so many passes in the 1st half didn't help either
Bump.

Unless the Moderator makes my thread disappear, I'm keeping this front-and-center the rest of the season. Time for Campbell, Candle et al to move on. I don't wish them ill--hopefully that get huge raises at a P5 school. But they've proven to me that they can't win a championship here. And I want to celebrate at least one more before I die.
This mod won't make this thread disappear...
One more *bump* for tonight.

I don't think he needs to move on. But, what he does need to do is get a new receivers coach and bring in a tall JUCO FS that can run at least a 4.4. Get consistency out of the receiving corps and a FS that is fast to enough to stay with good receivers and compete for the ball and we'll be good.
We lost to a team playing with their 3rd string freshman quarterback AND their #1 WR out for the entire 2nd half......I'm so pissed right now.
I want what y'all are smoking. It's clearly some strong stuff.
And what I want is a championship...something Campbell clearly can't deliver, for whatever combination of reasons. And I'm not alone on this--there were ALOT of pissed off Rocket fans leaving the Glass Bowl tonight. Inexcusable loss.
Eh, teams have bad losses. Coaches don't get fired for them. Not like playing a team that pushed #1 to the limit is a bunch of pansies. Pretty dis appointed in the effort and apparent lack of preparedness but this is the same team and coach that beat an SEC favorite at their place. Campbell probably doesn't grab the brass ring be he certainly isn't leaving through UT's impetus.
Unless some schools have bought into the media hype about Campbell, it is unlikely he is going anywhere just yet because as last night graphically demonstrated he is still a "work in progress" and the BIG boys want to see a finished product before they
lay out a multi-million dollar/year contract.

Campbell is improving his skills every year and is working toward becoming that "finished product" that every BIG boy school desires, however, he is not quite there yet. This year Campbell came up with a credible defense the help him win his 1st and 2nd victories over BIG boy schools on consecutive weekends that led to a temporary national ranking and sooner or later he will learn how to beat NIU and thus win a MACC. At that point we can expect him to move on, but probably not before.

You're a f.u.c.k.i.n.g moron. Can you ***** some more? You are the true definition of a fair weather fan. One loss and the world has ended. Guess what? There is nothing you can do about it. So move on and get ready for CMU.
Please refrain from the personal attacks.
The biggest problem I see is Candle can't come up with a good attack for anyone. And our best Q B is sitting on the bench. I have no idea what people see in Ely. I know our receivers drop a lot of passes. But that's not the entire problem. If we want to win. Get Woodside off the bench and find someone who can come up with a good game plan.

Its a tough loss no doubt, but Matt Campbell has made our program better all around, but we still have work to do.

Campbell will stay, but the OC should go. Play calling leaves me scratching my head.Ely can't run, in the 4th quarter when he could have gained a few more yards to help Vest make that field goal he tried to force the ball into Russell's hands, if, he can't run, then find someone who can. I have no idea what the defense was doing on the passes NIU threw over the middle? Where was the FS? Lot of question marks. It's a shame we have 2 running backs who gained nearly 300 yds on the ground and we still couldn't win the game. I think the next 3 games will be very difficult for this team. No sense in even thinking about bowl games right now.
I might suggest one of these under Coach Campbell's Christmas tree this year...
