After I chose my seats and purchased season tickets Saturday I noticed that for sure no reason why at least lower level should not be filled to capacity each and every home game. I know in the past complaints of the Frozen 100, but makes one wonder.
By the way, good to see UAB Band dad who sat at my table after the scrimmage. Or I hope that is him. 03-lmfao
Well, hell. You should have said hi, I had no clue. I spotted Blazerjay and moved over to his table, so if I was there for a minute and then moved, that was indeed me.
Since ya'll are mentioning ST are there still lower bowl available preferably somewhere on the sidelines rather than behind the baskets? I was waiting on having some personal things out of the way before getting ST so now that they're out of the way I can go ahead

There were some, but not many. From memory: There were about 50 seats for season tickets available in the lower bowl. On the bench side, there were 14. On the opposite sideline there were about 20.

Yes they were. Section 115 and 116 had some.
I got center court, but the second row from bottom, upper level, section 221. And some were available there also.
The reason you often see empty seats in prime areas on the lower level is not because those seats are not sold, its because those tickets are not used for many games. Generally they belong to businesses. Often those firms make their tickets available to their employees, but there isn't much interest unless the tickets are for a "big game". A "big game" for these folks is when UAB plays a ranked opponent or a big name school like North Carolina or an SEC school. Then you can bet there will be folks using all of those tickets.

A school like UAB has a choice between selling the best tickets to people that will actually use them and create a great atmosphere, or selling them those who will pay a lot of money for the privilege of being able to buy those tickets (Blazer Club). Unlike programs like Duke and North Carolina which have the best of both of those worlds, UAB is forced maximize revenue.

I know that Coach Bartow would have loved to improve his home court advantage by putting the students behind the opponents' bench (he tried that one year by the way), but I guess he ultimately decided the revenue those seats could produce was more important.
Students were behind the opponent's bench for much longer than Coach Bartow coached. The "Murry's Maniacs" sat right behind the opponent's bench, and all the way through 2008, when the Memphis fracas broke out, the students were in the vicinity of the opponet's bench.

It wasn't Bartow choosing to gain more revenue by selling those seats at premium prices. It was a CUSA mandate that students cannot sit behind the visitor's bench.

CUSA banned student sections from the area directly behind the opponent's bench after memphis students chanted the n-word at Chris Lee. They've since been moved further away.
For the family section do we get actual tickets via mail or do we print them from home? When I ordered a few weeks ago the email confirmation said they would be shipping via first class but when I look on my account it gives me a print option?
UAB should set up a way for season ticket holders to resell tickets on stubhub. It would allow for the better seats to fill up. UAB would be able to get some of the revenue too.
I'm not knocking the ticketing dept, but they weren't prepared to have current season ticket holders ask to move seats during the event Saturday. A digital ticketing system like FlashSeats would make life so easy for season ticket holders and individual game ticket buyers. Yes, I love getting my massive sheet of basketball season tix each year, but it'd be really nice to control them from my phone and send them to whoever I want electronically.
The Athletic Department used to have a program by which season ticket holders who couldn't attend a game and had no use for the tickets could notify the ticket office so the tickets could be redistributed or given away to someone who would use them. I don't know if that program still exists.

Mine came in the mail last week. I didn't see an option to print from home.

Okay thanks, if I don't get them by the end of the week I'll call the ticket office.
When I got mine today, I asked when I'd get them, being this late in the game, was told that the guy that prints them will be in this week to print current batch or late orders. Did you place your order recently?

Ordered mine a couple Saturdays ago. Hopefully they will be in this week.
It isn't rocket surgery yet each season we always have issues. With all the cuts in the athletic department we seem to not be able to improve this or sports information.

I never had a problem, but then again I always order my tickets early and get them through the mail. I know that the deadline for renewing Blazer Club tickets passed over a month ago and the ticket have been printed because I already received mine. Maybe it is the later ticket requests which are made after the tickets are printed that are causing the problems.

I am having trouble understanding how there can be an option to print tickets online because the ticket takers at the arena are not equipped with the scanners used to determine whether an on line ticket is valid and has not been previously used.
I know some BC members that have still not received them.
