Quote:Toledo's offense is led by Phillip Ely, whose completion percentage hovers around 50%. This isn't the most impressive by any means, but the passing game hasn't been counted on. When Ely has been on, he's found his talented receivers in open space, making way for the advancement of the rushing attack.

Or, put another way,

Toledo's offense is led by Phillip Ely, whose completion percentage hovers around 50%. This isn't the most impressive by any means, but the throwing the ball only accounts for one side of the statistic. Ely has been on, hitting his receivers in open space. Unfortunately, "hitting" his receivers, followed by the ball falling harmlessly to the ground, has not helped the passing statistic or establishment of the rushing attack.

Indeed.

I thought that Hustle Belt was better than this article suggests. The author obviously has not followed the Rockets this year and wrote the article based only on looking over the stat sheets for games involving UT and BSU. These stats sheets do not include dropped passes so of course the author attributed Ely's low competition rate to Ely's lack of accuracy not his "talented corps of receivers" frequent inability to catch a ball delivered right into their hands.

He didn't even realize that the Arkansas game was at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock not at Reynolds Stadium in Fayetteville, but that information probably wasn't in the stat sheets for that game either.
Looking at some g5 rankings, lots dont think we are very good because of stat production (lack there of). Most have three or four AAC teams ahead and say Toledo has the best shot tho because they dont have to fend off other undefeateds.

There has really been a lack of respect for our 3-0 Rockets outside of MAC fans. We are capable of going on a serious run. We can beat down some teams this season. Much like the NIU team of 2010 that went on an October and November run.

The wind will play into this game as it would any two teams playing in the weather. If this game is a barn burner, it doesnt mean much for the rest of MAC play. A win tomorrow will be good enough for me.
The thing is, unless the passing game becomes a more serious threat, defenses can (and do) load up the box and seriously impede our running game, especially if Hunt is not a factor. I feel that Swanson is just about as good, but it hasn't been easy for him either.

Ball State's QB and RB may be freshman, but you can't discount how well they did against NW; and their defense held NW scoreless in 2 quarters. Factor in the Muncie Curse and this game is a serious challenge.

NW is last in the big10 in passing and 1st in rushing. They eat clock and win low scoring games. You might not see NW score 30 this season. They play like ND used to. A boring football team. They wont be in the top 25 for long either.
Just passed a rail car north of Muncie. Painted on the side was UTLX. I take that as an omen that we're scoring 60 tomorrow.

And in the past, we'd likely lose that kind of game 63-60. We seem to have found a D this season, however!

Not to worry. I looked around the house and found a letter/ number combination of BS22 so we're good.
