With windy and potentially moist conditions this weekend in Muncie, it might be advantageous to have a more mobile QB ...

Just run the ball. Time for the o line to step up on run blocking. Enough capable backs.

running the qb is overrated. unless you got a mariota or braxton miller type qb have them run the offense and throw the ball. it's cool to have a guy who can move around the pocket and scramble when necessary but in recent years our qb runs have been generally unproductive.

use the rbs have the qb throw the ball

If I'm Woodside I may have transferred. 8-2 last year and Ely playing this year and possibly next. Freshman Guadagni may be the next great QB at Toledo and that doesn't even take into account Quentin Gibson or any player we may sign for 2016.

With Ely's past Health issues and small stature he could go down at any time. If Ely goes down, would they use Gibson or Julian, or would that red shirt come off? As far as incoming recruits or current true freshmen, Logan's knowledge of the playbook and game experience are extremely valuable. Take a look at ND and OSU and see how quick a change can happen. I think Logan stays, has a great career and Guadagni will be the future. not impressed with the athlete/HS QB's UT has committed now. Maybe they will be Macon/Page type converts. this is the type of depth good power5 teams have and UT is starting to get at certain positions like QB and RB. Now to build that depth at DL and OL more than just this year.

He's not going to go pro, he's getting a free education at a prestigious university, would not be picked up by a power 5 and he is not getting the crap beat out of him, why leave?
I think he really likes it at Toledo and is a team guy who wants to help the team no matter what his role.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Going away mad isn't always the way to go.
UT and Phil Ely have been good for Logan Woodside.
Logan Woodside to Transfer

You jinxed us DetroitRocket...

If Ely goes down, I wouldn't hesitate to put in Logan. Win now vs stocking for the future all kids of stuff can happen down the road. Logan would give us the best Chance to finish off what could be a special season.

Agree 100%.
"If Ely stays healthy all year, Toledo will use Logan Woodside's redshirt."

Obviously if something happens to Ely, Woodside is the guy.
