Preaching to the choir. But nice sermon.

More like, How can I?
On-campus stadium, you say?

This is a crackerjack of an idea. I think you should contact Mark Ingram's office immediately.
The OCS is a great idea and should be on the list of UAB football facilities that FBHC Clark has enumerated. However, if we don't do the first things first, we face the possibility of going 6-6 in that new OCS. That is not where we want to go.
First step toward a stadium is to get construction under way on something permanent that's football-only. Anything that can't be easily repurposed will do.
I think you can too, Gorilla. Get started.
An on campus stadium? Why didn't I think of that?

All I need is a bulldozer to start clearing some space.

No, all you need is a shovel and a 10 lb sledge.

Get started.
Build the stadium at Uptown, then expand UAB to include Uptown. On-Campus Stadium. Problem solved.

Next.
The longer it takes to make some sort of announcement, the more threads like this we're going to get.

Oh, joy.
I believe Uptown funks us up.

Too funky! Depressing, to say the least.
Is Herb Harrison going to help you with the bulldozing, Gorilla?

This is the big fight right now. The BOT Athletic Committee does NOT want anything permanent that is football only. We are reaching out to the other board members. I think some of them are realizing how rouge the three stooges are.

If the IPF and - or stadium is allowed you will see we have won that fight. If all we are allowed is a football operations building you know what happened. We have some heavy hitters on our side now and the other board members are listening. The problem is the BOT Athletic Committee. It has to be abolished or at least neutered.
Is it proper procedure for athletic facilities to first go through the athletics committee? I thought construction items started in the physical properties committee.
They do what they want and don't care what anyone else thinks. (Three stooges)

A plain reading of the board rules by a non-lawyer (me) shows that they could go either way. The Physical Properties committee is charged with all facilities based decisions, including master plan changes, and the "acquisition or disposition of facilities" but the Athletics Committee also: "shall advise and consult with the Chancellor of The University of Alabama System and the campus Presidents on all matters that, in the judgment of the Chancellor and Presidents, have long- term impact on the operations, reputation and standing of The University of Alabama System and the campus athletic programs. Its responsibilities shall include monitoring and reviewing institutional compliance with the laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the Board, the campuses, the NCAA, and any other applicable governmental or regulatory agency or body; reviewing athletic budgets, facilities plans and student athletic fees; making recommendations to the Board as part of the annual budget, facilities, tuition and fee approvals; "

So, it's really up to the Board and the Chancellor where it has to go.
Athletics Committee
Chair: St. John
Vice-Chair: Sexton
Members: Espy, Gray, Humphrey, Wilson

Chaired by our great friend Fess. Also has known enemy Espy as well as Gray that spoke in favor of cutting football. Humphrey should be an ally, but she is weak. Where do we stand with Sexton and Wilson?
