How does the eligibility clock work for 2016 HS recruits, transfers and JUCOs.
Is 2016 a Redshirt year, or not count at all towards eligibility? So, HS 2016 recruit, will have 6 years to play 4 potentially (if Redshirted?)
2016- not counted
2017-RS
2018-21 eligible

I believe 6 years to play 4 is correct according to what Clark has indicated. He said he was told that by the NCAA.
Most HS players redshirt to get bigger, stronger, and faster after a year in the college's strength and conditioning program. That year would be 2016 so I wouldn't expect many 2016 HS players to actually "redshirt"...
From what I'm seeing look for this years class as in the one we should've signed this spring to be JUCO heavy then he'd sign mostly HS kids for our normal spring class that would still sit out a year (everyone RS in essence). The JUCO's he seems to be going after now would end up being the JR/SR class when we start back so no real big gap in class number breakdown due to the "mistake"
Six to play four. Clock stops once you sign until the 2017 season if the NCAA approves the waiver.

They said they would sign waivers, but one had to be submitted for each player.

What reason do you think would result in a denial of a waiver?

A UAT player leaving to transfer here
In my NCAA Football Video Game dynasty, I redshirt almost everyone of my players, no matter what...and UAB has one about 5 national titles in it.

So there's that.

I think you are joking, but I believe at least one Tide QB who is not playing this year may want to come to UAB since no QBs are on our list now. If the "UA administration" blocks a transfer to UAB like they did for Knox, it could result in a federal lawsuit being filed by the player. Alabama - the state and the school - have a pattern of losing in federal courts.

Yes I was joking but there's some truth to that in that "they" only allow transfers unidirectionally

It is ALL conjecture at this point, but that headache could be THEIRS not ours. The choice to not challenge the UA Athletic administration may have cost UAB two good players then and Clark may feel differently about "rolling over" in the context of this time.
A couple of points mentioned:

1. An OCS is very much needed if UAB is to ever reach its full potential.
2. Shutting down the program may have been a blessing in disguise.

What exactly would be the jurisdictional basis for the inclusion of such a lawsuit in federal court? Or was that just included to make the joke about Alabama entities being on the wrong side of federal courts.

Moreover, what would be an actionable claim under federal law for the scenario you have just described?

(Hint: there ain't any in either case)
