I am a student at UAB and the other day one of you posted that Garrett Marino was made fun of by a professor...I am in that class all that happened was that Marino said "I'm on the football team" and all the professor said "well I hate to tell you but" and he fled to Twitter and tried to make it some big ordeal.. Today he showed up to class 10 minutes late (also was the first time he had showed up since the first week) and the professor was talking about asking questions in communication and all he asked was "are you on the football team?" and Marino said "yes" and the professor said "how do you know?" and Marina said "we've been practicing every day." The professor went on with class but it was nothing and yet Marino has fled to Twitter again saying "he always has something negative to say about the program" and the professor said nothing about it.. This guy has no sense of humor and takes words and turns them.. Also he left 20 minutes before class ended.. So don't take things so literally
Did he order in pizza in the class?
I may retract my demand for reprimand (don't tell MB)
I'm with Marino. It's not funny, after all we've been through.
The professor wasn't trying to be funny he was just asking a question that was just trying to prove the point of what he was talking about. Marino needs to get over himself
First rule of "meeting of the minds:" Bring one.
Without context, I kinda read it as a jab for not showing up for class.

What point could he have possibly had to justify this line of questioning?

What makes you think Marino needs to get over himself? That statement implies that he thinks too much of himself. It's possible to be legitimately upset about something without being egotistical.

OK, fine. But some people don't take well to joking or ribbing, especially if 1) they don't know you that well & 2) it's a touchy subject. True enough the kid may not have a sense of humor or is sensitive to it it right now.

How about if you just loss your job because where you work got closed down. You walk into class and your teacher knows you worked at the closed business and just replies "hate to tell you, but now since you're unemployed you have more time to finish your work."

All in all, I can see where this generation wears its heart on it's sleeve and its twitter page. I would've just shot a quick one right back at him or just let him know in a civil way "Glad you find amusement in my situation. " And why ask him again about the football team? Prick move...prick move. Just shut up and teach & Marino just shut up and quit crying on twitter.
Who cares what the professor said? What chris has to say in class is way more important.

But blazer74, realize this: you are in a target demographic the BOT wants to exploit: undergrads. Tell everyone you know about this vote. We need a student revolution in the worst way.

Who is Chris?

Who is Chris?

He's a righteous dude.
Bentley thought he was cool too when he asked the UAB nurses if they had a football team.

Probably before he was born.

But he wasn't trying to be funny. He was just trying to make a point, and the fans got upset. Stop being so literal and get over yourself.
Marino needs to slow down on the twitter, though, forreal, and stop skipping class. I'd like for all of my players to be eligible in 2017.
I thought the coaches had a little chat with him.

Unless proven otherwise, I think that should settle it.

You're probably right. I may have missed that.
chris is so cool he doesn't capitalize his name.
Maybe it's just as simple as Mario is offended by the question and the teacher should recognize that. It doesn't matter the context. There are other ways to get your point across without offended your students.
