I can see UT's POV about finishing the game, but I also understand Stony Brook's hesitation (and added expense) to subject their team to a long 12 hour or so bus ride (after a probable loss) as well as also likely missing additional classes (on Friday). This is such a rare occurrence, I doubt that the contract had any specific provisions covering it. Not having seen the specific wording of the contract, I would think that UT would be better advised to just suck it up and pay Stony Brook the full check (which is what Florida did) rather than try to renegotiate a lower rate and thus (IMHO, again, not having seen the contract) perhaps come across as being cheap, petty and selfish.

Although Florida also reimbursed the fans for their tickets, I do not see that as being necessary as most of the fans left by their own free choice after the first rain delay anyway and besides, many fans (sic) typically leave the Glass Bowl at the half anyway even when the weather is perfect. There were losses sustained because of this cancellation but as a fan I am willing to shoulder a small share of those losses and do not expect or wish that UT reimburse me for my tickets or parking----IMHO that would also be cheap, petty and selfish on my part.

If you remember back in 2001, UT "postponed" the Youngstown State game that was scheduled a few days after 9-11 and the game was ultimately cancelled because a rescheduling date agreeable to both UT and YSU could not be found. Yet that year turned out just fine with UT winning the MAC and defeating Cincinnati in the MCB, so why worry? Besides the way some fans were talking (at least before the first quarter of the SB game) we could be looking at an 11-1 season which is not all that different from a 10-1 season anyway, right? 05-stirthepot

In 2001, Tressel and YSU ducked out of playing the Rockets on a possible later date, but somehow were able to add Marshall later on that season. Candyazz move on the part of sweater vest !!03-banghead
I don't see a ticket refund in order after a game like this.

Now, the last couple Northern Illinois games, yes.

Does anybody have any idea why in hell we played this game on Thursday. Don't give me this BS, if we played on Sat nobody would come, because of the holiday or the students would have headed home, **** they just started school. Somebody should investigate, who came up with idea, it's bad enough that we have to play all our games in Nov during the week, just to make a few bucks from ESPN. UT will start to lose more season ticket holders, because of this agreement with ESPN. I don't care if the MAC gets more exposure, when the stands are empty who cares.

Well said, Ron. Thanks.
